Espirit De Corps Prologue
Gorosaurus's Avatar
Go to movie
2003, Movie, Action, Directed by Sergon
A young man talks to a veteran of a special law enforcement organization, Espirit De Corps, who recounts one of his stories.

A very, very slick movie from Sergon here.

The directing was definitely the highlight of this movie to me, veeery nice directorial competency, methinks. Lots of interesting/unique angles, and very crafty ways of fooling the viewer here and there.

While I did feel that the jazzy intro music did not feel in place (Perhaps if I had a feel for Cowboy Bebop...?), at other times the music did really help accentuate the scenes' emotional grasp. I actually DID feel tense at several parts, I was really impressed! That's probably a 3dmm first for me. But yeah, several scenes (The baghead dude jumping out; negotiation talks) really had a very good, tense feel to them, and a big kudos to that. Some of the voices I felt were really good, as was much of the dialogue. I did feel that the main character's voice in the cafe scenes didn't seem to fit much at all, but that's not a real biggie I guess.

The animation was oftentimes quite good, as seems to often be the case with Sergon. While I wish I could've been allowed to toy with that swat dude, he, along with several other 2d (Shadows/helicopters/whatever else) objects moved quite nicely, giving a unique depth (Or lack thereof) to this film. The greatest scene was near the end with the dust coming from his shotgun.. MM MMMM that was sweet.

But yeah, definitely worth the download, and it makes me wish my computer didn't suck donkey nuts....

8.5/10
