Riiight. A Town Called Malice was basically my first proper exploration of what v3dmm can do. It was the film that finally pushed me into using custom-scenery, and try big new things (for me big, new things anyway, they've been done by other people a million times) such as night-time and realistic gore, and moving cameras.

As the entire point of ATCM was to muck about and test v3dmm's abilties, the story begins with no real introduction. But then I also did this becuase I felt it fitted the genre best (It's a zombie-survival horror by the way). Because in my opinion the best zombie-flicks are those that start in the middle of the action, wasting no time with boring "establishing normality", since we can assume normality was exactly as we live it. Whatever. Given the horror genre, and "end of the world" storyline, you'll no doubt realise why I waited till today to release this.

So, the series. First I'd like to point out, before anyone complains about the episodes not running together very smoothly, none of that cheesy cliffhanger stuff happening, that ATCM was designed as a full-length feature. Well 10 minutes or so anyway, films are getting longer these days. So the so-called "episodes" are simpyl divided by convenience, when my hypercam screen recorder looked tired I'd simply stop and slap on a little "end of episode one" thing.

Okay, here's the big criticism-baiter. I'll no doubt be hung for this. It's not in .v3dmm format. I'd screen record it, then filter it through Windows Movie Maker and other video editing programs to give it a very messy (deliberate), shaky and unstable feel. Anyone who's seen any experimental or the average university student film will know what to expect, sudden jumps to black and white, slanted angles, slo-mo, sped up film, various film distortians, and a bastard-lot of shaky hand-held camera work.

I used these methods in the hope of exaggerating and enhancing the gritty, urban horror style. Cliche as this may sound, I feel it works quite well.

Anyway, I think I've "blabbed" on about it enough, -here's the first 3 sections (one of them just intro credits, don't get so excited) of my debut film/series, 'A Town Called Malice'.

One last thing, I swear. Since the first two are wmv's, please resist the urge to watch the film before it's fully buffered. Having to stop every few seconds will ruin the atmosphere I worked quite hard to make.

What part of.. "These models are not meant to be used in any other series than Medieval Travels" didn't you understand? You could have at least asked permission first. Or you could have waited for gety's new pack to be released. We didn't spend grueling hours working on our models for them to be used where not permitted.

Gargh! I agree!! I made those models especially for travels, for mine and Buz's film. And now I'm making a modern dead edit pack for all 3Dmmers. However after throwing away our trust like this I don't think I'll bother. I condem you for breaking the trust of this community, as do I to all those aid and uphold this abomination.

Alright alright I apologize. Sincerely with all my heart and all that. Didn't think you'd be quite so offended. As for not making that pack for people, that's just silly. If it means everyone still gets the stuff you promised them, I'll put up with the odd "Cubert is a dick" thread or whatever. Just don't take it out on people who aren't me.

I think maybe the measly 40mb bandwidth limit might be the problem.

[edit2] Shit. I'd rather people watched it on freewebs. The flash version has some shit ass sound glitch, you can hear what's coming 2 seconds before it does. Which for a horror short, is kind of annoying.

Right. Get some kind of screen recorder. Apparently 3dmmstudio.co.uk has something like that, though I use Hypercam 2 since it allows you to record sound (though that does leave an annoying "UNREGISTERED HYPERCAM 2" watermark in the top left.). Record your movie to an .avi (it's easy, the screen recorder tell you how to do this). Then put the avi version of your film into Windows Movie Maker. All XP's should come with it, it'll be under accessories. Then simply choose from the wide range of new options WMM gives you, such as "age film", which adds that old, silent movie style effect.

There's also a few points when I simply pointed a webcam at the screen and recorded that way, which is how I got that shaky, fuzzy effect.

Why dont you try uploading your movie to my uploader? Its got much faster download speeds than Freewebs, and you wont have to limit it at 5mb like you do for Newgrounds.

Grow up. It's not really worth getting angry over, is it? Consider all the things that could have happened to you on 06/06/06. Is one self-confessed "n00b" borrowing a few of your expansions really that bad? Hell, if you were so scared of someone taking your stuff, just submit films in .avi. Isn't one of the best things about v3dmm the sharing? That once a new idea or method comes out everyone can see it, study it and use it for themselves, and therefor we all develop together as one "force." Not to too sound melodramatic.

Think about it, back in 96 or whenever when the first visionary decided to put together that cone prop and the box prop to make a house, thus giving birth to custom scenery, wouldn't it have fucked up 3dmm's future if he then bitched his ass off to every person afterwards to make their own scenery?

I suppose as a "n00b" it wasn't my place to answer back, but hell, I have to make my point. So, Buzvonlurt, get over it man. Life's too short.

1) There are no v3dmm versions. Just watch the wmv's, the whole idea of this series was that I'd try things not possible in v3dmm. Read the intro.

Also, I can understand if you were still creating the series, but you aren't - so why should you care at all, you're protecting something that doesn't matter anymore, so the models being used aren't having a negative effect at all unless you think there are crowds of people out there who still haven't seen your movie.

On top of that, this is about 2 models that you're hoarding - I released about 300 individually retextured, reformatted, rescaled and some from complete scratch models/textures. THAT is a lot of fucking work, two models aren't (in comparison) - and I encouraged the use of them. If I don't give a crap what people use MONTHS of work for, you should get upset over whatever you did.

On the whole, Cubert may be the new guy - but that doesn't give the right to try to verbally rape him over a minor mistake.

I simply think it considerate to respect Gety and Buz's specific request that no one use their models. Maybe it's petty of them to make such a request, but nevertheless, they did make it... so I say we should comply.

But like I said, Culbert is new, so we should cut him a bit of slack.
