The Sniper @ 3DMM BB
by Zaps
Go to movie
Dan takes a stroll into the 3dmm building only to be harassed and angered, and his inner abilities take a mind of their own and unleash in a spectacular array of special effects and comedy.

Dan’s sniper movies have always been entertaining and amusing to watch, but I only really see them as two-minute harmless distractions. Then, he makes Sniper @ 3DMM BB, which clocks in at fifteen minutes. Naturally, being a fan of Dan’s work, I download it and check it out, but I couldn’t help feeling that its length would be too long for a sniper movie, and that there would be either some irrelevant slow-paced moments, or that the action would drag on for too long and I’d get a little bored. On the most part, I was happily letting the movie entertain me, but it does have its flaws.

The entertainment value of Sniper @ 3DMM BB fluctuates a lot. In fact, it starts off uncannily similar to JDR Revival. Like his huge hit, Revival, the first few minutes of this sniper movie were too slow for my liking, but for different reasons: the dialogue was poor and felt almost unnecessary, nearly all of the people portrayed in the movie aren’t recognisable until the credits, and the whole ‘oh, look at me, everyone hates me’ story just dragged on for too long. While I welcome the addition of a mini-story, it could have been pulled off a little more effectively. I loved the Testing Forum scene though, and also Demented Ferret’s appearance. Then, all of a sudden, everything starts to fall into place. Dan’s sick of everything and goes on a rampage, and finally, the action that I had come to expect from a sniper movie is finally here. It also rocks. As always, Dan shows off his animation skills, and what follows is plenty of pure eye-candy, putting v3dmm into good use in the process. In between all of the action are many deaths, a little bit of humour, and occasionally the odd slow patch. At one point, there is a lengthy, tedious and pointless digression, which involves picking out the right Muse song. Frankly, I don’t care which song the guy picks, and this could have easily been cut, as well as a couple of other slower points in the movie.

Towards the end, I started to get a little tired with the constant action, but don’t let that put you off too much; I’m just slightly more impatient. Apart from all that, this is a good watch. The music choices may have been a little dodgy from time to time, but all of the movie’s good qualities more than make up for that, and from a graphical point of view, it delivers, and that is what’s important, right? There’s not much else to say really. There’s certainly enough action and killing to please sniper movie fanatics, there’s new animation techniques that should please just about everybody, and it’s only fifteen minutes long. It did not necessarily have to be this long, and my initial thoughts were right to begin with, but this is still worth checking out, even more so with the lack of decent releases lately. Don’t assume that this is just like any other sniper movie, because it isn’t. It is a whole lot more fun than most you will have seen, and is worthy of your attention. In fact, there is much more for you to discover than what I have said in this review; I have purposefully not revealed a couple of surprises you will encounter along the way, because any mention of them would dampen the whole, frantic experience for you. So what are you waiting for?
