Vlarion 1 - The Shorter Review
Richard Bevis's Avatar
Go to movie
When a research lab studying an ancient relic is ransacked, a special ops organization investigates the possibility that a millenia-old apocalyptic legend is coming true. A young mercenary expelled from his home region heads off the investigation as sinister forces begin preparing for the legacy to unfold.

Although it's been said many a time before, I can't do a review for this film without mentioning that it's the damn nearest thing to absolute perfection I've ever seen. And that's a given anyway, taking into consideration the trailer, and the fact that some of 3dmm's best community members joined Sir Aaron Haynes for it's production. I won't even go into how talented Aaron Haynes is at this point because he is of a standing which requires no introduction. When you view a film like this there are two elements which sway the light in which you watch it, and they are that you are overcome with a sensational drive to make a new film just as thrilling and exciting, and
the other is that you are overcome with a depressing emotion, which makes you feel like you can never make another movie again because yours would look so bad in comparison. I think this film has a bit of both, because although it's so vastly overwhelming, it has a property to enthuse and motivate it's viewers.

There is little that I can say about this film which is bad, almost all aspects of the film are astounding. All "physical" aspects of the film were perfect, that is, both visuals and audio. The only issue I had was that for me, the plot wasn't superb. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed the film, but science fiction and action films aren't my cup of tea. But this is something I can't touch on hugely because it would be unfair for me to put down a film solely because of it's genre.

The first thing anyone notices when watching a film, especially one of such high quality, is the graphics and visuals. Vlarion has the beauty required to hook it's viewers on an entirely new level, as each scene, each shot and each frame is a spectacular piece of eye candy, from the landscapes and skies right down to the details on buildings and furniture. The special effects Aaron Haynes is able to achieve is truly inspirational, I myself having taken note on the famous sky gradient "bbbbbb" effect.

As far as sound goes, the music is perfectly fitted and apart from a few minor actor glitches, the voice talent is pull off sweetly. Simple as.

So as a favour to Aaron, this quick review is here stating that as far as 3dmm films go, you most probably will not find another film better, and that's the honest truth. Let's just hope it leaves a few categories for some other films at next year's awards.

Thanks, man

Sorry I haven't gotten to Dance of the Firefly yet, school is intruding rather violently at the moment. I'll do it tonight if time allows, tomorrow absolutely if I can't.
