Ah I KNEW IT

I could tell from your previews you had talent and I was RIGHTTTT!

you have a fantastic sense of direction sir, and a great eye for good visuals, an attribute only a handfull of directors in the community have. This was a nice little short showcasing just that; with a good script in your lap, a potentially amazing movie would be at hand.

ANYWAY

as for THIS movie SPECIFICALLY:

a nice little short with a nice little concept. Visually sexing, and sexingly directed. Cinematography was great too. The only thing was that it got out of sync on my computer but I can't blame you for thFUCK YOU RICHARD. FUCK YOU.

good stuff, keep it up, and I can't wait for a full lengther from you

<3 TOM XOXOXOXO

Thank you sir! Yeah well as is always a potential problem with short movies set to a piece of music, there will always be synchronisation issues and I hope it didn't ruin the general feel the movie overall!

And I'm sorry some of the scenes wouldn't load for you Pogo, any problems for you Tom?

the only one I had was the first scene of the actual movie--it slowed down to like 1 frame per 2 seconds..but only for that one scene.

As for a scene not playing, no, no issues.

The first black and white scene was the one that went really slow for me, and then everything went smoothly.

Very, VERY good movie, this. The direction, construction and creativity are all astounding in their own unique ways: the excellent shots of the landscape and scenery, the cleverly made lamps and foliage, and the whole idea of the movie. Some bits were a bit off, sure, but excellent work.

Now churn out Blind Homicide or I will slaughter you.

... oh, the irony.

Haha, still a little way off with Blind Homicide. However, this movie was my little "break" movie if you will, because I was getting bored of doing Blind Homicide. Now I'm back on track and I'm hoping to finish it!

The first thing I noticed was your intro logo and how well it synced witht he music, and then your intro credits reminded me of something pikios would make.

This was very good. Great cinematography, all the scenes were beautiful and they all flowed well together. Did you make a storyboard beforehand? And it all looked asian too! I really didn't know you had this kinda talent

also, graet choice of music. Just downloaded that entire score not too long ago.

8/10

"Faggot-ass," ey? That's a new one for my lexicon.

Very nicely done, Richard. Usually these short little things don't hold my interest, but this was an exception. Visuals aside (they were excellent), the music really contributed a lot. Great work!

I do not endorse the messages in this movie! But This was a nice little Desert Eagle-ish film. Your use of the Geisha soundtrack and the expansions of v3dmm were well executed. Nice short, sweet little film.

Yeah I downloaded it too after I saw the movie, and I was hoping for the kind of Japanese effect As for the storyboard I didn't quite make one but there were a few sketches and a kind of map of the forest, where the rivers were and the bridge, hut and wells etc.

Man alive! What an incredible film! Should definitly be considered for an award...

Also, be on the lookout for a new game for the PS2 called, "Okami."
Check it out here:

Thanks! And that game looks kinda cool with the whole colour-restoring thing like in Firefly.

This movie was pretty mediocre, I felt the animation was very nice - but there were several very struggling points, especially concerning the animation and fluidity of the 'firefly'.

It was overall just very boring and uninspired; the contrast from black and white to colour to portray a meaning or moral has been done ever so many times, and even in this case it really didn't mean anything at all. Even off the top of my head I could think of so many ways to put forward what you were trying to do, for example - you can have the starting 'world situation' created using darker, jagged objects - like spikes and cubes, then progressively 'beutify' them by adding much lighter and smoother objects and scenery. Another idea would to have it progress from very standard looking scenery to a very lush, v3dmm packed environment.

And onto the fireflies; I felt both their movement and their construct really put the movie down, you should have used the pallete of solid colours availible to you to create motion blurring, or at least animate them much slower. 3dmm has a crappy framerate, you need to remember that when you're animating stuff.

Not so much a moral, as just a story of an isolated land housing an old and saddened Japanese Woman, who is led by the fireflies to explore the full beauty and depth of the world in which she lives. The black and white symbolises how she sees and views her life, and when the fireflies summon her outside of her hut, colour is introduced so that we can see how she now experiences the world. As for your idea, I felt I achieved this is some ways anyway? With the black and white fairly basic scenery turning into "a very lush, v3dmm packed environment".

Not really, I felt that the black and white scenery was far better than the scenery in colour. Adding to that, not having any hidden meaning makes this short really very bland, it leaves it closed and much less open to interpretation. It has nothing really to offer; no enlightenment and nothing that wasn't already trying to be shown in the movie 'Pleasantville'.
