I think it almost works, it's just too melodramatic for something that averages out to about 50 seconds of actual animation. Like, flesh it out and emphasize this guy's single-minded nature, imply that maybe his wife tried to talk to him about it, but he ignored her because she's just a vessel for his child, and it tracks more logically. You can still kind of assume that, cause he's so unbalanced already. But it moves too fast and too simplistically.

Jaymond's overacting is amazing. I mean that genuinely, it's so intense and growly and wavering, it's pretty impressive. But it does make things feel kinda silly. I think the movie works if you kind of squint and turn your head a little. And the shot with the grave and the moon that Ash and I went on and on about back in 2004 is still pretty cool. Also, good God, the scenery in general.

Cheesy as hell, but the scenery makes up for it. I think it fails for the same reason that Richard Bevis's movies do, the emotion is way too forced and completely unconvincing.

Haha I hadn't seen this one before. I'm not quite sure what to make of it. I guess I'm somewhere in between 2004 Bown and 2021 Bown. I assumed it was going to be a comedy based on Jeremy Dick's involvement (the absurd description really doesn't help). As a result, I guess I wasn't able to take the movie as seriously as I was supposed to, since I was expecting some goofy ABSOLUTE BETRAYAL style ending.

The movie is definitely well made. The scenery looks great. The voice acting is good. The praise given by Aaron and Evil Ash to the grave/moon shot is well-deserved (while Andres's complaints about the plot being unrealistic are dumb). And yet, I just can't really take it seriously. There's something about a baby being shot in the face in 3dmm that just makes me laugh, even if - such as here - it is clearly not intended to be funny. Probably just a mental defect on my part.

In summary, this movie was... not bad. But it could have been done a whole lot better. Now I'm going to go rewatch Absolute Betrayal.
