HMC is right. If I'd been planning to kill him off, I'd have made it clear at the end of V1.

Plus, you can see him in the original AV3.

Yeah, I knew by the end that both he and Adrack had a further role to play in the next movie. Kind of like Merry and Pippin getting abducted at the end of FOTR... you know that they're not going to die. It's just the suspense that's cool.

Oh, I just remember Adrack surviving in the original series after being forgotten at Rosal's HQ and becoming Yaul.
I guess I should rewatch the original series before trying to correct someone on this movie eh?

I forgot to mention, one of my favourite parts: Dask waking up. Only having shorts on, and the position he's in and yeah, that was like the most... I dunno... 'real' moment I've ever seen in 3dmm. It was incredible.

Kinda chunky if you ask me, he needed to suck that gut in.

Yeah, comedy would have been a nice touch here and there. I loved the part with the speed shoes or whatever. I think that was the first one at least.

I wanted some comedy, but not at the expense of the movie's credibility like in the 2000 edition. I thought there were a couple of amusing parts in the movie at least. There's just not really any slapstick is all. It's very subtle and character-based.

Brad: Glad you liked, I was so proud of that scene I animated it twice (not really, I lost the first one I did to a save bug and had to redo it later). Vlarion 1 2000 didn't have this scene or Masali fields, or even the scene where Dask runs through the Terrania street to get to the AT conference room. He really had no prior development at all, so we had no idea who he was. A little humanity goes a long way.

All the seperate limbs animation was awesome. Where he leans on the wall when they find the girl, and when he's won the fight and he's looking down and the hair blows, it was all incredible. It's ridiculous how much it adds.

I'm having enough fun animating the Killah with 2 seperate arms, let alone skinning and animating EVERY seperate body part!

I smiled a couple times. I remember Jack having a couple funny lines, such as "I hope that includes our own." Well, blown out of context without Dask's line, but still, that kinda made me smile.

My favorite is the one Ferret pointed out, Dask still being sore about having his car insulted and automatically thinking Stacey was talking about it again an hour or two later.

Yeah there were a few subtle points of humor, and they were appreciated. Like I said, it worked fine. I'm just thinking a bit of more obvious or "LOL" humor - maybe more Jack lines, or a comic relief character - would be neat for one or more of the sequels.

There actually is a character who has that function in V2 onward, though he'll be toned down a little bit from the originals, where he seriously bounced off the walls. My biggest challenge right now is giving him a role larger than Gelst's in V1, since he doesn't appear until about halfway, by which point the major focus of the plot is, shall we say, "elsewhere."

K as this was a pretty amazing 3dmm I wrote a proper review;

Firstly your mise-en-shot was fantastic especially the crane and crab shots which you pull of better than any other 3dmm film I’ve seen. You use of lighting was good when you thought it was necessary especially on the explosion shots and to add suspense to some areas. The way you used low key characters in these areas was a great continuation from derelict and you use of them for water scenes etc took this to a new level as was your use of the car doors etc, which has pushed v3dmm to new limits. Your mise-en-scene was better when indoors as these environments seemed better constructed and more in-depth, unfortunately your outdoor shots often seemed very large and indifferent. As with all 3dmm films the padding out of locations due to want to pan/crane etc meant that your scenes suffered from lack of props which explains the reluctance to put more in outdoor scenes as this is where most of the action took place, however compared to other 3dmm films your scenes better detailed than most. Music was fantastically used especially as I love the dig music and every scene seemed to have music to suit. Although there was a let down to this as sometimes I couldn’t make out what the characters were saying due to the music volume, overall it was very good. The language of the characters was well suited to them and played very well with emotions running through them when needed; I especially liked the coughing and spluttering when the black guy was resuscitated. As a remake it could be anticipated that the plot might suffer slightly and I’m afraid I thought this was so. I found the plot for such a well made movie a little too short it could have been made into a mind-blowing epic if made longer such as Moderately confused or combined with Vlarion 2. It is however overall a good script with an interesting plot, although there was the odd plot-glitch here and there. I found the world created exciting and licked the way parts of the history etc were revealed over time, however the sheer expanses the people seemed to travel seemed a bit far fetched sometimes.

Overall it’s definitely up there with Redux and is a great example of how far 3dmm has come.

8.5/10

I agree 100%. That entire segment was incredibly realistic, at least in terms of atmosphere.

I just got a chance to watch it this evening, and WOW!!!!! I really don't know what to say... I'm completely awestruck by how beautiful it was, and I do mean beautiful. 80 minutes too! The most shocking thing of all is that I somehow managed to resist the temptation to pause it in the middle and figure out how he made all these brilliant scenes!

I'm not kidding when I say this; this movie has completely changed the way I look at 3dmm. I've got a totally different outlook on making movies, the community, the site. Everything. Absolutely wonderful.

AARON, GREAT JOB!!!!

Nice. Good work, Aaron.

Side note: you do realise that now people realise what can be accomplished, they'll spend even LONGER making 3dmm movies so they can keep up to the quality? You may have just added 2 years to the time it takes a decent 3dmm film to be completed. But, fuck it, it was a good movie I'll watch more than once - and believe me, thats saying something.

Goat: Thanks a ton, that really means a lot.

Don: You'd be surprised; v3dmm tools are quite good for decreasing or at least balancing the amount of time spent for the quality of the project put out. Vlarion took quite a bit of busywork just the same though, so you may have a point.

How long can we expect to wait for the sequel?

I'm putting it at roughly six months. I'm considering working on it and Vlarion 3 at the same time.

This is the third time I've asked this question in this thread, but anyway: Are there any voice roles for Vlarion 2 which haven't been taken as of yet?

I would ask for a voice role, but my accent would stick out like a sore thumb...
