Edit: I think this post originally said "THIS MOVIE ROCKS" and then a month later he edited it to "THIS MOVIE SUCKS" because he thought I didn't check this thread religiously every day. Hahaha, you thought wrongly! -Aaron

WHOAOAOAOAOAAOA
Jesus fucking christ do you have ANY CONSIDERATION regarding EXCESSIVE V3DMM USE? but hey it didn't slow for me so I'm k, but oh man. Every scene was amazing, even the simple scenes you somehow made look professionally complex.

Great voices, great music, AMAZING vlarion animation, I'm never gonna believe you when you say I can animate better than you, cause I can not fucking do that shit no sir.

but..oh man, THANKS FOR THE CREDITS MENTION, just make sure that vlarion gets his PLACE, in...VLARION 2..GOO OOOOONNN.

Awesome movie man, time just fucking FLEW, well done man, I'm giving this 100/100 cause I've never seen anything like it, and I give a lot of 10/10's, but this DESERVES 100/100, cause 10/10 only gets you as certain as 95%, BUT THIS IS 100%

Made it up to scene 100... will finish later. Very, very nice. Perhaps a bit slow-paced at the beginning, but lovely otherwise.

My only beef: voice acting. I couldn't make out a few of the lines delivered by the thug who kidnaps Gelst. Also, I realized only now that I had slurred some of my lines because I was going too fast. Doh!

I didn't like Brackus' voice either. Or Rosal, for that matter. They seemed a little too exaggerated and dark. Not absolutely awful, but.. well.. eh.

However, this was pure brilliance. It was such a great feeling to see this in a new light, revisiting the old locations as they're now awesomofied, hearing familiar tunes from the old movies in their remastered quality, and "What's next, a giant SCORPION?"... <3 !!!

Your skill in animation, construction and dedication has gone beyond human level. I have very very few criticisms about this film. I would, however, like to see the more badass side of Gelst in the future installments. He seemed a bit too blank here. Looking forward to him and Trevor together .

The car explosion scene at the end made me wee myself! It was so beautiful! .. and.. still horrifyingly tragic, of course.

Rasklain... holy SHIT!! Holy fucking SHIIIT!!

The credits were insanely sexy. Very clever!

It's pronounced 'HYROLIX' all along?!?!?!?! I'VE... YOU... AAAAAAH!!

Aww. I liked Brackus and Rosal's voices. Some of Beast's earlier lines aren't as good, but he has some fantastic later ones. Adam Clough's turn as Brackus was one of my favorite performances in the movie. He can be a little hard to understand at first, but when you get right down to it....he's a thug. He tries to put on an air of being civilized and cultured, but he can't disguise the fact that he's a scumbag. Also Brackus is a bit of a bastard. HAH. I kill me. No seriously, I really liked the job he did.

Gelst doesn't have a lot to do in this movie, this is true. This will change in Vlarion 2, obviously. There was a scene involving him after the Brackus HQ infiltration that was cut before production because the dialogue wasn't all that great, so he kind of disappears from the movie after what happens there. His development will be much more thorough in the next film.

And yep, "High-row-licks". I look forward to making people pronounce "Mastrorar".

Glad you noticed Rasklain, I think most people are going to be more stunned by Kriven, so much appreciated.

Thanks a bunch for the comments.

That was AMAZING. Animation was the best I've seen EVER in 3dmm, and might even be better than most professional animations. I was in awe of how you twisted each character with pencil to make them your own. You made Dask's hair move, his motions were sync'd to his voices, etc... amazing. The battles were breathtaking.

In fact, I'm going to tell you this: I'm one of the few here who probably was barely to run this thing. (EDIT: Only because my computer runs at 400 Mhz) 3dmm paused at 251 and I'll have to try watching it later, but every scene lagged and I STILL really enjoyed it. (It was so bad, the music cut out halfway through the battle!) So I guess I'll have to wait for the AVI version.

By the way, the voice acting was great. I REALLY thought Jack's was superb, except in some places. But he sounded the most like a "character" out of anyone in the movie, in my opinion. Just AMAZING: 100/100

I don't know if there'll be any spoilers in here, but I'll slap on some spoiler tags just in case, because I'm lazy.

Now, I'm going to avoid making the usual "ZOMG IT WAS SOOO GOOD I EJACULATED AT THE END!!!" kinds of posts, which is difficult to do considering that this movie is, as I and many others expected it would be, the greatest 3dmm movie of all time, well at the moment anyway (Vlarion 2?). The detail in this movie is, at it's least, completely insane and unimaginable as how you could have possibly added it all in without thinking "Ah, fuck it, it doesn't really matter. The movie'd work fine without it." But you didn't! The screen in the AT siege scene that showed some crazy moving-camera carnage on a flat tile was probably the peak of the wackily adventurous little bits and pieces that came together to make the - let's face it - not that exciting talk and non-violent sequences so much more bearable (Not saying that the AT siege was one of them, obviously). Other notable things that happened in the creation of this movie are the inevitable changes from the original epic. For one thing, Dask has a past and a HOME rather than being just some guy who beats the shit out of terrorists. And, definitely the most prominent difference, is the introduction of VOICES. now this altered the viewing experience for me a huge amount, mainly because I was more used to watching the escapades of floating text boxes rather than hearing sound other than thumping MIDIs (That's another thing - the 'remix(?)' of the main theme was very cool). Luckily, with the exception of one or two characters, all the voices were perfect for their parts, and even if they weren't I can see myself getting used to the fact that these characters now have a voice box built into their anatomy. There should be something about the 3d-word font HMCs here, but I'm sure we all know how awesome THEY were.

Anyway, I can't be bothered to write much more about this movie, which just goes to show how remarkably different I am from Aaron Haynes. There's bound to be about seventeen more pages about how great and revolutionary this movie is, so I'm going to stop talking about it and have a look at the future. Aaron's undoubtedly taking a well-earned rest now he's finally dropped his long-anticipated bombshell on the movie forums, but let's hope that I'm not going to be in college before the next one in the series comes out, eh? And a suggestion for the next movies: It'd be great if in your excessive detail if you imprinted a few references to the community and other movies and stuff in there, too. That's always awesome.

And somebody get Maltby in here.

Hahah, ouch. Yeah, might be a better viewing experience like that. You do have v3dmm 0.14, right? Considering the number of vxps in this movie, trying to run it with anything lower than 0.12 or so and 3dmm basically commits suicide.

Yeah, Eric did a fantastic job with Jack. He was the only voice actor on the project to do multiple takes of every line he sent me (and by multiple I mean at least five, sometimes pushing ten, even for longer lines). There was always a take that was exactly what I was looking for. His character comes to life in a more balanced way than the original Jack in V1 1999 ever did.

Thanks for the comments yo.

Naw, I have the newer version, the main problem (which I forgot to mention) is that I have a terrible computer. Not much you can do about that.

Molotov: Hugely appreciated, I'm glad you responded so strongly to the much more elaborate context of the story and characters. The originals obviously tried to shoot from the hip and hope that it would all come together in a meaningful way later on down the line, which only happened occasionally and usually in pretty isolated spots. I worked hard at building the rest of the movie up to that same standard, skimping as little as possible and aiming for consistency in the detail and grandiosity. I wanted it to resonate, to really come alive. I'm glad it did for you. And let's face it, some of that stuff is just damn fun for its own sake. The AT siege is probably my favorite individual sequence in the movie.

Vlarion 2 will definitely be out this year. As I've said, the tools I needed to develop are largely done or can serve most of the purposes I'll need for future installments, and setbuilding in Maya has gotten a lot easier, so I'll be doing that for the majority of scenes for Vlarion 2. The AT siege taught me to avoid extremely complex 3DMM scenebuilding in long movie-defining sequences. I can't wait to get the ball rolling on the next few. This is only the beginning.

Warning, Spoilers, bleh.

Take the superlative for awesome, add Doubleplus to the start, and multiply by one million and four, and you might well get a vague idea of just how Doubleplusawesomest x 1000004 Vlarion 1 just so happens to be. Simply put, this is one of the most insanely ambitious efforts any 3dmmer can make, and came out better than I ever expected it. While the style of the movie has shifted radically - from the RPG world of pre-rendered backgrounds and still images to a full-blown cinematic experience. The remake opportunity hasn't been wasted in any sense. Dialogue has been re-written from scratch, Plot-holes and inconsistencies have been patched up, a great deal of backstory has been properly filled in, and the audience now knows how to properly pronounce Hirolix. The soundtrack, like the movie, now mostly departs from the Final Fantasy style of music and leans more towards The Dig and Metal Gear Solid, and a little bit of Sam+Max. On top of everything, the technical stuff is AMAZING. Almost every single character, save some random bystanders, have been either remodelled, re-animated, or at least given a change of clothes. Not a single scene goes by without some form of V3dmmification, be it for lighting effects, camera movement, video-screen footage, or the swaying of Dask's hair. And as for the battles, they are quite simply the craziest, most intense, and most incredibly animated moments of 3dmm history, and the finale...HOLY FUCK!

In short, Aaron Haynes has created the single greatest 3dmm movie ever made, and the rest of the series can't come soon enough.

100/100

FUCK. I knew I'd accidentally leave one of those in there.

That's from me cutting objects out of the last frame to grab ahold of some hard-to-reach something-or-other for sounds in an earlier frame. They're meant to be trimmed off afterwards. Bleagh.

Pogo: Thanks muchly, I really appreciate it. Somehow it just kept expanding and expanding beyond that initial "well I'll just touch up some stuff here and fix a few mistakes there" concept. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

The Terrania street where they fight Hirolix, the abovewater and underwater versions of the Ceveron lake, and the apartment Dask wakes up in after the first Terranite Labs scene. In order of how they were made, and in order of how seamlessly they blend with the rest of the footage, which indicates I'm getting better.

The 321-80 thing I noticed, but kinda ignored. I guess I'm just too used to seeing that kind of glitch in cheap videogame cutscenes.
