Sorry I didn't catch this earlier. I created the four environment sets in this movie using Maya. Additionally, new scenes were made to have more complex palettes so the skies didn't look too awful; one of the reasons the sky looks so good in the water fight is because it's about 30 or 40-something shades of pink rather than the 8 or so 3DMM normally has. Overall it took about a month or two of extra work for the postproduction stuff, but I think it makes up for itself nicely.

Hah, my new avatar makes all my posts seem violent. ANSWERING YOUR QUESTIONS AT GUNPOINT FROM NOW UNTIL THE MOVIE'S RELEASE.

Old user of 3dmm, and I took a little break... but I'm glad I came back to check it out. Your preview looks awesome, Aaron, I can hardly remember the old version, but I watched it and loved it. Even though there were a lot of speech bubbles, similar to MGS, etc. Those were back in the days when only Dragon Films seemed to have your movies...

Anyway, good luck with this one.

It's a 3d modelling program. Like Blender, but not free.

He's saying he's late as usual.

Or even if he isn't, eh.

Thanks everyone. Ashworth: Sent 'em to DF before I was really aware of any other major sites (though I also sent 'em to 3DMM Backlot a little while later, and Teulan kind of gave them all identical reviews). Definitely wasn't going to send them to 3dmm.co.uk, as even back then I knew Maltby would hate them. I knew my audience. Kinda. Glad you enjoyed

Aaron - With your hand made Dask, wouldn't it be easier to make him an actor and have multiple skins eliminating other body parts? eg. costume 1 is just an arm, costume 2 is just a leg etc.

That would make the rotation difficult. Because you'd be rotating a body part in addition to this huge chunk of empty space, so it would mean a lot more repositioning for something that would be ultimately choppy-looking. It would be a nightmare. not to mention the Pencil editing you'd have to do for each body part.

Yeah, I was kind of referring to myself. I guess I should elaborate next time.

Shootfast: HMC's right. Penciling out limbs is ridiculously hard, particularly due to skin being redirected from the face texture. I only use the actor fonts for extremely specific subtle movements; the only time I've ever tried to do a full, complex action with it is the jumpout shot in the trailer, and when it was finished I realized they simply aren't built for that kind of thing. That shot took about six hours on and off, and I'm still only somewhat happy with it.

There's a whole other version where he reacts to hitting the ground more, but it's too exaggerated and he seems to be stumbling. It would have gotten a laugh, which is not what that sequence needs.

I might have a gif of it somewhere. I'll release it after the movie's out.
