The Sniper @ 3DMM BB
Dominator Dan's Avatar
Plot Summary:
Dan takes a stroll into the 3dmm building only to be harassed and angered, and his inner abilities take a mind of their own and unleash in a spectacular array of special effects and comedy.

THIS IS NO MALTBY LIKE SNIPER MOVIE, IT'S MUCH BETTER

DOWNLOAD, AND WHILE DOING SO, READ THIS BEFORE WATCHING!

1) Movie may be very loud for some, so turn your wave and main volume down to just below halfway, although if you use proper speakers then I gguess you can just turn the nob

2) MADE IN 11 DAYS, thought I'd brag, I've been doing ultra-work on this bad boy to make amends to the fact I hadn't made anything since 5DMM and decided not to make Prowling.

3) Please don't have loads of other programs running like iTUNES or MSN or AIM, or anything that'll slow 3dmm down, music syncs right from the start, there is a v3dmm cache, but still, it may ruin your fun.

4) Here's all my other Sniper movies up for downloading, featuring:

Sniper @ James Quicksell's 18th Birthday Party
Sniper @ Aaron Haynes
Sniper @ Ben Lee
Sniper @ Charlotte Moore
DOWNLOAD

5) Enjoy the movie you horny people.

P.S. I didn't use 3dmmap2 mainly because I challenged myself to not use it, and thus tried really hard and took a lotta time making the cameras pan smoothly, I hope you appreciate it

EDIT: I've got a few comments about not knowing who some of the people are, try actually watching the movie till it finishes, there is cast & credits yknow

Overall, I liked it There were some bits that perhaps could have been cut out, but it was good. In fact, I may bother writing a review for it.

The animation was yet again impressive, but the movie did kinda bore me. Even as a pointless movie, it felt a little too empty. Still, I loved some of the ideas used. Good use of v3dmm, too.

Wow, this was great! I enjoyed every second. You made nice use of v3dmm, lots of cleverness to it, the only problem was that I didn't get who a few of the people were. But yeah, very very cool!

I read it as, "sat 3dmm.com..." and sat is being said as, "it's at" but then I realized what it meant. Which I thought was a cool way of saying, "it's at 3dmm.com" but then it had "out now" and I got confused, which of course, made me realize of how I figured out what it meant

...YUP! WATCHING THIS IN ABOUT 16-20 HOURS!

I found no flaws in this movie, at all.. Everything was so well paced and entertaining from the start. Really nice work, a pity we don't see more from Dan much these days. It was inspirational work from Dan here, and a great effort crammed into 11 days. Make more movies!

Definately the best sniper movie I have ever seen from you Dan.

Full review: (warning, contains spoilers, so watch the movie before reading)

The Sniper @ 3dmm.com Headcarters
Directed by: Daniel Martin
Genre: Action/Comedy

When you were to think of a sniper movie by Dan you may think of a retarded, 2 minute long, plain old skool scenery movie with crazy voices from a pretty bad microphone but some top class music and animation. This however makes an exception. Dan has given us his first solo release in over a year and it shows he is still an animation lord.
Beggining with an awesome new Danimations intro (made specially for my chain movie! ) and going into a fairly...erm..."original" title sequence with a title having an orgasm.
Movie actually starting it is looking rather beautiful, scenery wise it is alot more detailed then previous sniper movies from Dan and the scenery is especially more detailed then it is in 5DMM. The scene when I enter the story by smashing into Waumsley like...a crazed retarded looking for a friend . I think it was a bad idea to use Jaymonds old lines from JDR Revival to voice Waumsleys again. Credits say all voices done by Dan Martin, well obviously not then Dan, you dumbass! I think you should have just done it yourself, it just seemed like a bad idea to me, but I gotta say that the moment I enter "*GASPS* IT'S BEN!!!" was perfect, yet still a bad idea.
Things continue however to get random as there are voices in heads and cameos put in for pointless yet funny backround appearences, putting our for Dominator over the edge. The testing forum disco scene seemed kinda out of place, merely put in there to make the movie alot longer, and adding loads of cameos, aswell as more cameos adds more people to rip to pieces in this piece of work.
As the mega action sequence starts things get slightly off course. As Shadow Dan enters the art gallery, negative comments lead to death, fair enough but when everyone who gave bad marks is dead, he then does a random explosion. I thought Dan was taking down people who have been "harrasing and annoying him" Not those who just stand there, but then again, you wanna do something cool theres gotta be someone to kill...if your'e making a PAM. Now, MY DEATH. I HAVE A GUN, I SHOOT DAN IN THE LEG. I AM HARDCORE. Until I get a person flying through me. I would have thought if a human being was to fly through me I would have been ripped in half, not have a small hole in me. (Yeah, I watch things closely these days ) When things become bigger in the testing forum, Jim Mcgraff enters. Now I think that adding a random partner was both a good idea but hideously bad aswell. I mean, this is "The SNIPER". Not sniperS. I would have thought that if there were to be any partners joining up it would have been Shadow Jeff and Shadow Rory (whom Dan created as models for fun during production of this movie) But instead poor Rory is left out and Jeff has a final showdown with Dan...who is supposed to be his best friend and now they are suddenly enemies...why? I do not know. The random appearence of Maltby and Ward are too random. I mean I understand that Dan is a massive lover or Maltby's work but having him killed...I just didn't like the idea very much.
Dan says that this is nothing like Maltby, it aint MUCH like Maltby but a couple of tiddly areas of the movie for some reason hold signs of Maltby inspiration, not just the fact that Dan has only made PAMs since his existance in the 3dmm Community...apart from what he did in The Prowling of course please don't hurt me Dan, nor flood me with emails, texts or constanty trying to phone me saying I'm dead meat! ).
The ending was perfect to me. The person you knew had to be featured sooner or later in this is the last one you see, until he gets kicked of the placment by ol' Mcgraff...

We all know Dan is a quick worker in 3dmm. He made JDR Revival in 4 months, all his parts in 5DMM in a few days, and this awesome project in 11 days! This is a great touch for Dan's folder of 3dmm PAM masterpieces. It has some brilliant and colourful scenery, brilliant music, great useage of v3dmm, and most of all incredible and jaw dropping animation. Pure Dan Martin this was. Pure Dan Martin.

Overall Rating: 8/10

[edit] Take a close look at the shot saying the end, look at Aaron in the original scene then look at the next scene. OMG SHADES ARE THERE.

Seriously? I thought it was the single funniest part of the movie. It's just so over the top and actually helps add to Dan's aggression.

Dan and Jim McGraff aren't the snipers though. They're just on a rampage. AARON's the sniper at the end, remember?

I actually would have thought me turning up would have been enough to drive Dan over the edge straight away.

I get that but this was called "The Sniper @ 3dmm.com" and Dan kills everyone there. But then HE gets snipered by Aaron. Unless it's the exact same case with the sniper at your 18th birthday with the Phoenix taking Dan out after he took you.

The only cameo was Jim McGraff this is the 3dmm BB, the members of the board HAVE to be there :P

I wasn't all impressed with it, the fluidity that Dan is known for is visibly missing from much of this movie. It's entertaining, sure, but confusing as all get out. Not particularly funny either, though the portrayal of the Testing Forum was easily the highlight.

Dan's done better than this, and I was hoping to see more unique ideas carried out here. The only really 'exciting' kill was the swinging mace. I would've loved to see that same motion continued on for a massive chain of events. That's exactly what makes the Coyote/Roadrunner cartoons so entertaining, and I think you've got the ideas up there to make it really work.

Disclaimer or not, the sound was pretty apalling. I'm guessing you handled most of it yourself, so points there. Unfortunately, though, it shows.

The animation was alright, but it won't go in the Dan Hall of Fame. New techniques are probably the highlight of this movie. Even older v3dmm models are put to good, unique use.

Scene construction was pretty darn good.. much better than I'd expect of a Sniper movie. However, speaking of that genre, next time try to keep it a little shorter. There was a lot of unnecessary time wastage (With no comedic payoff); Maltby had intended them from the start to be quick and funny or exciting. This is definitely more of a PAM.

Good job, Dan. And very nice work for going non-AP2. That would definitely drive me insane. I'd have to second Breed's question, though.

This movie was excellent, I enjoyed every minute. Each scene was eye pleasing, I had no qualms with the camera and the humour was at a perfect pace. Briliant Work as always!

THAT WAS FUN!

There's not a whole hell of a lot to complain about, because it was good from an enjoyability standpoint. It's endearing in that trademark Daniel Martin way, rough in some spots, weirdly quiet in others, but punctuated with awesome and surprising bursts of animation. It wasn't out-and-out hilarious in the way the Game Show was, I laughed once or twice early on, but was mostly smiling through it. The community jokes worked for the most part (the Testing Forum has, as everyone said, the best portrayal in the film), and the cameos were made up of a pretty wide range. As for the sniper himself: SAW IT COMING.

Two things were fucking kick-ass about this movie: The first is Dan's use of v3dmm. While the new models and the implementation of several expansions are noticably sloppier than most movies v3dmm-usage thus far, they capture that rough but insanely imaginative quality that Dan's pre-v3dmm stuff usually did. If they're a little rougher than the standard faire, well, 11 days for a project this big can do that to you. Besides which, this is pretty obviously Dan's first or second outing with much of what's been available for a long time, so if he uses a few Superdings objects in somewhat unconventional ways, fair enough; the uniqueness that ensues in the style is always welcome. I've been waiting to see people stop worrying so much about perfecting every aspect of a lot of what's out there in their work and just blast ahead in playing with it, like you might do with normal 3DMM, Frankie's Expansion, Doraemon, or Nick. The fusion of 3DMM and v3dmm here can be a little rough (seems to be the word of the day with this project), but Dan is stubborn and unworried about trying a bunch of new stuff in unfamiliar territory. 'Bout time.

The other kick-ass thing is what appears to be yet another step in his irreverent, self-referential, ADD-afflicted nature, evidenced by all the 3D Text stabs at himself throughout the movie. My favorite was Jammin' Jeff turning around after a long, dramatic entrance and suddenly Dan uses 3D Text with an arrow to point out a texturing mistake in the model, where a line of off-color pixels splits the back of Jeff's pants open. There are other fantastic visual gags that don't really involve v3dmm, but are funny in a physical way, like the drawer to the Muse CDs springing open and bashing Lmac across the room, or the minus signs spewing from Art Gallery regulars performing the yell action as they turn away from Dan's work to see him there, are oblivious that he is intent on destroying them, and start badmouthing his work.

The whole movie has this misanthropic "who the fuck cares" feel to it, darker and more unconcerned about accessibility in places than even 5DMM. It's probably Dan's most self-conscious movie to date, and if you look at the JDRs and 5DMM, you'll understand where I'm coming from; in those, he's completely self-indulgent, having fun with his own antics and hoping you do too, but here he's totally aware of the community, his place in it, and makes a point of speaking directly to us. The twist of irony is that this time, he doesn't seem to care much if something isn't working. It's almost cynical at times. Lots of long pauses for jokes that might seem like dead air if he still had that puppy-dog earnestness that permeated JDR Revival, but this reminded me a bit of Sniper@ADLH, where Andres probably wasn't that concerned how well some easy shots were taken. I'm not sure if it's a refreshing change, but I can't remember ever feeling bored.

Overall, silly, funny, highly entertaining, a little darker than usual, and a little intentionally inaccessible, if that makes sense. Cool stuff.

Hahahah, oh yeah, I forgot about when Dan and Jim bust into Admin Contact and Space Goat freaks out girlishly for a second before regaining his composure and announcing, "I've been waiting for you." Then cut to a deadpan reaction shot of Dan and Jim, then back to Goat, then quick pan down to a puddle of urine on the floor and back up. That definitely got a laugh from me.
