SATANIK
Andres's Avatar
Plot Summary:
Satanik and his girlfriend/accomplice try to pull off the robbery of a famous ankh. Along the way, a clever detective engages in a cat-and-mouse game against the criminal, looking to catch him once and for all.

This was my last 3dmm movie and pretty much my best one. I took a vague plot outline from some old comic books and basically just used a loose plot framework to toss in as much shit as I could. I did this movie before going to college, so I was more concerned with just finishing it than making it perfect, logical, or waiting for v3dmm's advances. As such, it has a lot of good scenes (the conversation scene was one of the first parts of the movie I did, with no knowledge of where it was gonna be put), and lots of total horseshit. But in the end it works. I wish more people had ripped it off. I wouldn't know, though, I don't watch any of youse's shitty movies.

This is the best BLACK COMEDY film I've ever seen. That's based on every film I've seen. It's dark and abyssal, with concepts that the films today could learn from. I had dozens of favorite parts. I really liked the image transitions; painstaking effort was put into every one.

Hey Andres, I FINALLY watched this, after I can't count how many IMs you sent berating me to do so. All I can say is, wow, really great job here. The way you framed the scenes with the fancy moving letterbox stuff was pretty unique for 3dmm, and done excellently. Also, gotta comment on Jaymond's voice acting, which was simply wonderful. Hope he won an award for that, because it was over the top. I really loved the little rap he did for the credits at the end too.

The story was great, was it based on a book? If so, how different was your interpretation? Well, whatever it is was, I thought it was really entertaining.

Overall, very nice job; sorry to see it's a goodbye movie.

But it does have some of the standards of a potential real film. Which is obviously rare with the case of 3dmm. You did manage to pull it off.

All except the part where Satanik comes on screen and gives a little recap before the finale. That was... odd.

This movie would have an insane following if it was made with a decent budget.

RIGHT BEFORE MAKING THE CRITICALLY CLAIMED MOTION PICTURE, TOM BREED IN SATANIK (http://www.3dmm.com/showthread.php?t=14801)....

I actually saw this again for the first time in a year or so. Needless to say, even compared to v3dmm standards, its still fantastic. And even though Andres won't admit it, he knows its a work of art. My favorite little bit of uniquenesses are the small dream sequence with the hmcs, and the flashback sequence where the Indian fella tells that story.

But even besides those, the colors and the visuals are just amazing. I believe McZee called them, "Perrrfection!"

ANYWAY this is fantastically unique, amazingly directed, beautifully cinematography'd and quite fun to watch.

THE ONLY DOWNFALL would be the actress who plays Satanik's girlfriend is...bleh. But Jaymond makes up for that.

Hmm..

It would appear that the actual comics have recently been translated into English as well now. Sweet.

Edit: And a TV series is underway too. Holy shit. (Link Redacted)

Whoever made that costume for the Charlie actor was clearly a sadistic twisted psychopath who worked in the office by day and by night just read the comics and performed all kinds of urban terrorism.
