Get Rid Of The Movie Discussion Board

seriously, nobody visits it. Its also ruining the community everytime a new movie comes out people hardly see or review a new movie as much as it would in the general chat area, which makes all the work hardly worth while. I mean, if this board isn't alowd to have movies and movie discussions posted here then what the fuck is it for? You all wonder why we get so much spam as to good topics. When i come to the 3dmm board i wanna hear about new movies and sites, not "IS XBOX COOL OR NOT DUDEZ?". C'mon goat....for the good of mankind just get rid of it.

AND DONT FUCKIN MOVE THIS TO MOVIE DISCUSSION.

Midbacks forum is worthless, but I wont say the movie forum ruins new movie-releases...A Call to Arms got over 50 replies, Aaarnishoz over 100, Sgt Steve got alot of threads! But yeah, it would be better if it was removed..

Just because YOU don't visit it doesn't mean NOBODY visits it. In fact, it gets a pretty decent amount of activity, IMHO. I don't really know what you expect to get from it, there has always been more nonsense talk then actual movie talk in this community, I can't change what the people want to talk about.

Bulletin Boards our size are not supposed to use only one forum because it creates a mess and makes it physically impossible to read everything that goes on. When the content is organized, it not only makes it harder for the user to miss the things they are interested in, but creates a smaller flood of messages since their last visit that he/she has to sort through.

Just look around, how many popular bulletin boards do you see with just one forum? Hardly any, if any at all.

I should also mention that I really get a kick out of it when people who willingly bookmark the general forum and boycott the movie forum, have the gull to come out and complain about the movie forum not being popular enough. Talk about irony. If everyone would just use the forums like they're meant to be used, it would be even better. But of course, I know how one or two extra clicks each time you visit the board is too much work to get use to...

i said this to andres, and goat, yes i agree the community's lazy, but if many ppl see how little reaction big movies get when they're released, they might not feel motivated to make movies emselves, which would result in a bigger movie drought.

i think all movie discussion, maybe it should be there, but big movie releases which are maybe once a month should be released in the main forum.

cuz it's bound to give the director more exposure.

goat, i understand the community's lazy, but should movie directors have to suffer cuz of that?

Midback's forum is pretty worthless, but it isn't exactly causing any problems, is it? Besides, it does have one purpose, that is to keep Mike happy and everyone else happy at the same time. As soon as he gets his normal connection back, it should have a little life brought back into it.

Again Jeff, I'm posting all the big movies IN A SPOTLIGHT on the MAIN PAGE. In fact, it's not even just big movies, but some small movies as well! I mean, if that's not enough attention, then I don't know what is! It all boils down to the same issue--people ignoring the front page and burrowing themselves in the general forum. You guys are just going to have to break those nasty habbits we got back with ezboard and get use to the fact that there are two big forums now.

fred, i'm sure u'll agree, u put fuckin hard work into a movie, u'd want a lot of exposure, and when it gets sent to the movie forum, it just doesn't the exposure it would in the main forum.

when u release a movie u wanna have like many fuckin pages of reviews from many different people.

the aaarnishoz page, 2 pages were, "damn the link doesn't work"
"try again" "doesn't work again"

then the rest of it was me, jon snell and andres arguing.

i really doubt there were that many actual reviews in that topic.

well you should at least let people release movies on this forum. Because when i released ks5, it got WAY more exposure and replies at the general board. Besides, back on ezboard the community was succesful as a single forum... not that more forums is a bad idea, but i guess what i'm saying is that you shouldnt move MOVIE RELEASE topics. maybe discussions about the movie or stuff like that...but at least leave the releasal topics.

But Goat, the movie spotlight is on the main page.. alot of people goes directly to General Chat. I know, its shit.

And Jeff, alot of people is still talking about Aaarnishoz, they reply to other threads like "Whats the best movie" or "What movie got the greatest ending" and mention Aaarnishoz, ACTA, and more, all the time. Movies released in the movie forum. As long as it is 2 forums, I think we should stick to the "rules" or whatever I should call it, and post movie-related stuff in the movie forum. Its the lazy bastards loss..

I think if you actually visited the forum regularly, you wouldn't find the situation as bad as you're making it sound. Because you yourself don't even visit the forum, your opinion is biased and your persepective on the situation is skewed.

And what makes you so sure it would get that much more feedback in the general forum? Mixed in with all that other crap? I just see it getting pushed off the page within an hour, never to see the light of day until the director "bumps" it back to the top. I mean, we saw that plenty of times on the old board, it was horrible.

I said it in the earlier post, and I'll say it again, the movie forum will never be as popular to the general forum simply because the "movie post" to "random post" ratio is horribly off balance. Stop expecting otherwise.

The entire basis of this argument is set around the platform that nobody visits the movie forum. So how is that my fault? I've tried everything, even changing the links around so their bookmarks that go straight to the general forum don't work anymore. I can't force them to visit there if they're too stubborn to do so on their own.

So anyway, I still got a few tricks up my sleeve I'll get put together in the coming week. I don't know if they'll help things any, but they should at least give everyone more reason to visit the main page and utilize everything I have to offer instead of just the general chat forum.

hey its like this goat. At first i really like the idea of a forum specifically for movies. It was a great idea. However when i started visiting it, i just got frustrated at how theres like 3 posts a day there. But i still continued to visit hoping it would pick up in popularity.... NOW i'll admit i check it out VERY rarely but thats because nobody else goes there. And look at how the ezboard was when it was just one forum.. Somebody would release (even the shittiest) a movie and it would get like 60+ replies!now that doesnt happen.
