CHristmas at my dads is crazy.

He buys the most random gifts of all time. My brother, his wife, my girlfriend, and I, all go over to his house, where he has tons of gifts for us.

I always know there will be a basketball. THere is one every year, even though I haven't played basketball for years. It's pretty hard to know what I will get, other than that. He never asks anyone. He just considers himself a master gift giver. I always tell my girlfriend to be prepared to get, like, a bowling ball he found at the swapmeet or something.

After each gift we open, he goes, "Well, I dont really know what you like."

My dad is crazy. My cellphone message says something like, "If your call is concerning guitar lessons, please leave your name and number" etc. And everytime, he says, "Hi. I was calling about the guitar lessons." *he laughs real loud* "Anyways... I've been thinking, Josh. I'm 51 and your 21, so I'm gonna start counting backwards, and in 15 years we'll be the same age." *more loud laughing*

haha. I cant even count how many times he's said that joke. Every message starts with those two jokes.

Oh, and he's probably the worst at computers, ever. He calls me and asks really retarded questions. One day he was like, "Josh, I'm trying to print an email, but there is no print button." (He's always really vauge in describing his problem.) Eventually I just tell him to copy and paste it into notepad.

"Well, where's notepad."
"Ok dad, click on your start menu and go to programs"
"Then what"
"Then go into the accessories tab. In there you will see notepad toward the bottom"
"Ok, I'm in the accessories tab.I see 'accesibility,' 'system tools', microsoft interactive training, communications, entertainment..."
(I try to interrupt him)
"No... dad... don't read them all to me.. just look at the bottom for one called notepad."
(It doesn't work... he just keeps reading every item on the list.)
"...address book, calculator, command prompt, notepad..."
"YES. THATS IT... NOTEPAD! CLICK ON THAT."
"Which one?"
"The one that says notepad."

This happens all the time. For some reason, he always reads the whole list, starting from the top, even when I tell him it's at the bottom.

Aww man. I have one saved on my phone where he says he wants guitar lessons, but I dont have a mic for this computer. It's too much of a hassle to do it on the other computer.

Also, anytime you have a sore muscle, or a your finger is hurting or something, he will say... "I GOT MY CHAINSAW IN THE GARAGE, IF YOU WANT WE CAN JUST CUT THAT RIGHT OFF."

And we all pretend that we haven't heard him tell that joke 100 times before.

Oh yeah, and the best one of all...

My Dad is really religious, and when I am with him, he usually tries to work in a lot of "life lesson" sort of stuff. My favorite is when he says...

"Remember Josh, you can flip a coin, but only God can determine how it will land."
