v3dmm won't install.

About 75% installed, the following DOS window appears with the message:

Checking 3dmm-UK...
Mismatch at 27762: [85 != 3D]
Checking 3dmm-US...
Mismatch at 27811: [00 != A0]
Couldn't find any matches! <Got a lighter?>
Press any key to continue...

Then a message - 'Failed patching 3dmm.exe!' appears and the installation stops, even though the window is still open. I use 3dmmMini if that helps, and I have installed it multiple times, so the path is C:/Program Files/Microsoft Kids/3D Movie Maker/3D Movie Maker/3D Movie Maker/3D Movie Maker/3D Movie Maker/3D Movie Maker/3D Movie Maker/ . It was several installations before I realised it kept doing this, you see. And then, of course, I tried to install it a couple more times and correct the path. Which I failed. So any tips? Because I have 3 v3dmm movies to review by next update, and I need it fixed fast.

...........uninstalling and re-installing 3dmm could be a good start.

Find your 3dmovie.exe file, and upload it here: http://upload.3dmm2.com

Update: I had the same error (and I had it again in 2013, but didn't document how I solved it).

I solved it by deleting all of my 3DMM, Expansion, and V3dmm folders and reinstalling using just the Modern Installer.

Previously I would install each piece individually, and somewhere along the line one or more pieces would be incompatible. I found some information that it might have been the Nickelodeon 3dmm expansion that was doing it. I also was using a patched 3DMOVIE file, and that might have done something as well.

In any event, if you run into this issue when installing 3dmm or v3dmm, make sure you back up your movies to an unrelated folder, and then just go through and delete the works. Reinstall each in the Modern installer and you're good to go!
