Madness Combat.. In 3D Movie Maker?

Please note: I will go on a nerdy rambling session in this post. Madness Combat is a series by Krinkels, not me.

So last night, I was sitting in bed watching some 3DMM Classics, before I had an idea. What if I put Madness Combat Grunts into 3DMM to make a Madness Tribute?

Now, the thing is that Madness Combat was made in Flash. I own Flash. But the challenge is appealing, and since there aren't any Madness Grunt mods for 3DMM yet, I'll likely make the grunts out of built-in shapes and recolor them a bit.

I'm planning to make it in the style of THIS Madness Tribute. The style is simple yet effective.

Please note, this Tribute is basically unnamed at the moment. It's purely for fun. If any of the more experienced folk have advice for making something like this, let me know.

I've already invested a considerable fraction of time into making sure I know how to use the tools of 3DMM and how to make things like blood and gore/other effects, along with smoothness and other tricks. Along with collecting a large library of sound effects from games and such to use in my movies. So technical tips and such would be great.

I started animating the Tribute last night, however I'm not afraid to redo my work, since I'm not too happy with the fact I made myself do it when I was super tired. And as a result, it looks bad. Worse than my first Movies. I won't share much as the movie is in the EARLIEST stages, sadly. But as it progresses, I'll release maybe a trailer when I'm comfortable with that.

The only reason I'm a bit iffy on showing the Trailer currently is because I looked at it and realized that I could make it alot better. The current state it's in is pretty bad, and I've have decided that it will be redone. The trailer will include special story scenes animated just for it, so that I don't spoil the animation itself. It'll have a somewhat silly story akin to Early Madness Episodes, but I still hope to make it enjoyable. But even still, it's subject to change along with the trailer. I'll be getting help from my artist friend to make awesome art for the Tribute and Trailer, since they have a really cool style. Stay tuned!

Thing Thing was awesome too. I remember playing the Thing Thing Arena games and fought waves of bots when I was a kid.

I also remember making my character look like Max Payne using the character customization options, and I only used dual wield pistols when playing.

Haha, thanks. I prefer being more down to earth and shoving my ego to wayside more often than not. Being an asshole helps no one. Speaking of, I've animated the intro to the Tribute today. It was a lot of fun. I hungout with that art friend I was talking about in a discord call while making it. They were very fun to work with despite the fact they don't know much about 3DMM Animating, however I've already shown them a shit ton of animations made in the program, so no worries. They helped me name some of the characters and were happy to work on other aspects of the Tribute with me (ideas, concepts and other art) for free, so thanks to my friend for that. While progress may be slow, I'm plenty happy with sharing updates! (No spoilers though, until the Trailer spoils the story, but even then it'll be more like a companion piece.) I don't think overworking myself for a silly little Tribute is worth it, my previous Flash Madness Tributes died when I did that. Those who do not recognize the mistakes made in the past are doomed to repeat it, as they say.

Anyway, enough rambling. Thanks for the support guys! I only started using this account recently anyway, my interest with 3DMM has been on and off yet never waining. Anyway, I'm gonna log off before I write too much more.

Hey. This project has turned out to be.. REALLY FUCKING FUN! Slow progress, but that's only because I'm planning out each scene so that 3D Movie Maker doesn't die on the spot when I animate. I've already made the smart decision to split up every 1-2 scenes into their own file so that if I need to absolutely edit something later, I can sift through and easily do so. Another update is that I've decided on NOT having a constantly fixed camera angle like Madness traditionally does, and I'm gonna be doing cool jumps around the scene to keep it fast paced (and easier to hide dead enemies or reuse certain things, a bit lazy but hey, madness does it.) Even after this Tribute is done, I'll still have 3dmm ideas for days. I found piles of old school notebooks and papers that have really absurd and abstract ideas/comics/art on them, lol. Anyway, stay tuned.

Also, music suggestions would be nice. Something really asskicking, hard as hell would be good. But Aphex Twin-like psychedelic music is also great too. No matter how stupid your suggestions may seem, I'm always up for it!

P.S: The story is still gonna be silly, don't even think for a minute it's not. :]

Hey everyone. Its been a few or so days (lol) and I've been hard at work! (No, not like that. Cuz then I'd be having even more fun.) And I've been deciding on a soundtrack. Immediately I've made the decision to ditch midis and go full wav. The current picks for the music I'm gonna use in the trailer goes as follows:

No Use For A Name - Straight From The Jacket (from the legendary Litterbug 2)
Cheshyre - Insane (No Vocals)
The Kovenant - Chasm (from the awesome Madness Of The Dead)
Killer Instict Arcade - Character Select Theme (from the Madness 9 Trailer)

As well as a killer soundtrack, the other most important thing about 3DMM is sound effects. Luckily, I've already built quite the sound library, and have plenty of goofy screaming sounds to use for when Enemies get impaled, shot, etc.

No shortcuts will be taken. It's gonna be a fun one for me to make, and hopefully for you all to watch! And don't you all worry, this will not be a disaster in the making (well, it'll be one for the protagonist. I don't imagine fighting a bunch of dudes is the top thing he'd do, lol.) Animation is going well, my only problem is that the crosses are a pain in the ass to move around since they are two overly stretched cylinders, however it looks the best so I'm gonna keep doing it and dealing with it. Currently the main animation has not been started yet, but that's just because I'm planning out fun action scenes BEFORE I animate them! (My notebooks will never recover) Just like the trailer, I'm planning everything out until I feel that it's of awesome quality. I'm being careful with making this since I don't want to fall into the usual problems that 3DMM Movies face.

this may be a dumb question, but is this going to be strictly within the style of regular madness (mostly 2D) or will their be more dynamic shots?
