i had a difficult time finding a way to incorporate it into the story i’m sorry. a great mod though that should be released to the people via mod showcase

i hid a couple easter eggs in the movie, one of them being two Baby Faces characters that appear together only a brief moment, blink and you’ll miss it! let me know if you can find it..

What a strange movie. I think this might be the first 3dmm movie Ive ever watched that was entirely animal characters.

I really like the other cat skins. Who made those? Good job whoever did.

Yeah this is one of those movies which really makes 3dmm (and v3dmm) shine for how weird it is + mixed with that old 3D visual aesthetic. This is like the bizarreness of old 3dmm movies (Im thinking Tuffe John's for some reason) meeting the v3dmm engine.

Nice use of the Lee Erwin song. Ive never heard that outside of being sampled on the Nas track.

Well-- going into this, I didn't have any expectations in particular. I knew nothing of the plot, and I'm not sure if I'm aware of any of your previous work. This seemed about as good a place to start as any!

It starts out harmless enough. In a cute twist on expectations, we've got a cat that has an affinity for bones. Building a "bone hut" sounds like some sort of euphemism that I'm not actually aware of, but that's fine. The movie actually continues kind of cutely, but we're set up right from near the start that everything that follows is probably going to be a dream.

Sort of like the "don't show a gun on the mantle if it isn't going to be a part of the plot," I don't expect you to show a cat going to sleep unless said sleep is going to be used as a deus ex machina. With that, I didn't really take the next five minutes very seriously because at any point if things got too crazy, gory, or stupid, the movie would probably write it out at the end.

As things happened, it did just that. However, it tried to double-twist again, but even the "finale" was telegraphed by the framing. We expect him to find something amiss, and the "returning home to find a surprise" trope was definitely my first guess (I'd assume most also were not surprised by the twist). I suppose the humor of it was the, uh.. intensity? Yeah, we'll use that word. I'd rather not see that, but hey- we're using a program that Jimmy Pozin did terrible things on, so it's not without good company.

The music was okay, and the voice acting was actually probably the best part! That said, it was also a bit muffled and difficult to understand, which sucked. I liked the voices! I wanted to hear them clearly!

The animation was nothing to write home about. It also didn't hurt the film, and did enough to convey the story without shining or detracting. That's pretty fair!

I'm still from the old-school 3dmm approach where seeing multiple cats (or dogs) with multiple colors and/or styles is still pretty impressive. This allowed you to give each their own distinct personality, which I appreciated.

Other than the pigeon and ending twist, this actually could've passed for a harmless kid's cartoon. Like, nothing too adult or outrageous goes on, and the silly plot continues as if it's completely normal.

In all, this is worth the time spent watching it (that's more of a compliment than it sounds like), and it doesn't blow anyone away (unless they really enjoyed the ending. A happy ending, if you will).

I'm going to grade it against literally every 3dmm movie ever made, so no bonus points for being newer or using v3dmm. It's a solid 62%, which I think you'll find puts it in pretty good 3dmm short company.

I will always prefer movies that animate something new and show me something I haven't seen before. But, I suppose, I should preface that with "in terms of animation, not ... content."

TL;DR: The voicing and characters are GREAT. Clear those both up with a $30 mic!

thanks for the feedback goro i’m glad you enjoyed it, i just wanted to make something of semi-worth for a site that meant so much to me growing up, and i think i finally made that with Cat Bones, all my previous efforts were never any good and always met with ridicule (deservedly) so it means a lot that i’ve finally contributed something okay to the movie making.

fun! the story seemed random but it developed with a twist I didn't expect. Why didn't they get revenge though?
