It's called CamStudio, it's freeware, and you shouldn't have any problem finding it on google.

I should mention, I had the benefit of never having to record more than 60 seconds worth of footage, and usually there was no sound, so I was able to record at the max quality level and still have a small enough file that I could import into Windows Movie Maker 2.

One problem with the program is that it's difficult to define the area of the screen you want it to capture. I actually used the "magnify" program that is built into Windows XP to make sure I was getting all 544x306 pixels, and not a bit of the 3dmm GUI. Try it out yourself ->Start->Run->magnify. It's actually a pretty neat tool that not many people know about.

Very true. I didn't "love" the movie myself, but he did an excellent job.

Marvelous work here, extremely professional. Great job lads! I really enjoyed the snazzy feel to it, the whole awards just seemed to flow so well, and the presentation was so neat.

I think it was because in 2005 you hadn't unleashed a real success in which to be nominated for. When it comes to nominations you don't think of what the director has done this year (eg. You doing Dance of the Firefly this year, wouldn't get you nominated for anything like Best Up N' Coming in the 2005 awards)
However, I definately think you'll be nominated for Best Up N' Coming this year.

I guess I better get cracking on the results of the prediction pool. Sadly, many pools had quite similar predictions...so I hope the the awards won't turn out as predictable as I'm thinking.

Though I think almost everyone got the "What month will the awards movie be released?" question wrong...off by just one day!

But yeah...I'm really stoked to see this. Kudos to Goat and Ben for putting in such an effort.

Cool, thanks goat, I'll have a look for it.

I've been using camtasia, but it's so hard to use, well not really, just theres a LOT of stuffing around just to do anything with it.

Filesize doesn't matter.

Also, I tried using movie maker 2 once, to make a slideshow... yeah I hated it. Adobe premiere all the way.

Yay I saw my name at the end. This was pretty sweet guys. Hey Bevis, when you mentioned a "cheap ass animation competition" were you talking about that one I was running?

Haha, yeah! Well I was going back through the archives to find stuff to talk about and lo and behold was the animation competition which I thought was a big deal at the end but hastily faded away into obscurity.

I personally thought "Sanity Clause" should've gotten an award. That was a very clean and inventive film. Best "Holiday" film anyone? Good job Ned Carlson!

On another note, I also picked up the "Star Wars" roleplaying game handbook. DAMN! It's better than classic D&D!

MAYBE YOU SHOULD HAVE SAID SOMETHING, BUTTFACE. :P After the first like... week, I wasn't even paying attention to the list.

hahahaha... again, my bad. But again, no one said anything, and as I said above, I wasn't really paying attention after the first week.

I DID A GREAT JOB!

EDIT:

Just watched it and... holy crap, EVERY YEAR SHOULD BE DONE LIKE THIS, THAT WAS AWESOME!! My fav clip was the best fight scene and horror, the music went soooo damn well with those two!!!

*wants 2006 to be over to watch new awards movie* ahaha, awesome job Mr. Goat and Mr. Rice!!! haha, WHY DIDN'T PAIN OF LOVE WIN FOR BEST DRAMA??

Ned not winning anything is retarded and it kind of sucks that Barton won best voice actor for his role in Derelict, as it wasn't his best... but he's a damn good voice actor, so YOU KNOW. YEAH, best movie kind of suprised me... I BET IT WAS THE RAMZA CONNECTION :P

That was brilliant, the music went really well with the clips, and it would make a really great promotional video. For both 3dmm and v3dmm shows how the eye candy shots can whoop anything flash can do.
