Finally, a movie with actual effort put into it. This really felt like old school 3dmm in the techniques used. The story and characters were simple, but that's what I enjoyed. My only gripes were the lack of sound and music in most of the scenes, and I felt like you really could have used v3dmm a bit more to alter the characters. Having dudes wandering around the Old West in sneakers kinda pulled me out of it.

But really, nice animation, decent story, and fun movie!

Aw man, I specifically tried to have people wear shoes that weren't too modern looking. The only character I can think of who was definitely wearing sneakers was Travis (Salvador) towards the beginning before he switches clothes. Were there any others??

the salvador character was the one who stood out the most, but also, Jeremy in his default outfit really stuck out like a sore thumb. But, I totally get that you wanted this thing to come out in like...less than a decade. Not everyone wants to spend days just modding the shit out of everything lol

I liked this, I remember it was being hyped when I first joined.

It's one of the best 3DMM western films out there, I especially liked the modified default actors (I'm a huge sucker for those). The plot was nice, the opening shots were the most impressive. The story was engaging Rivers, I know you told me that it was boring but I thought it was the most exciting and well animated movie that you've done so far. The ending was a tad rushed, I could see that the sky wasn't moving as the character walked. The sound effect for the drill was kind of cheesy, I think you should've found a stock sound effect to fit that rather than the chair squeak.

But overall, a great movie. I like it when directors take a stab at a completely different genre than their previous works (e.g. from comedy to drama).

Nice work!

Good stuff. A bit slow on the start but it picks up. Very Quentin Tarantino Western/heist-esque. Nice scenery and directing, and I really enjoyed what character building you were able to fit in. I really appreciate little things like the old man getting shot off-camera while the other two run away, and then you just see the shot of him already dead. Also the shot of the light shining inside the planning room in the morning. 4/5

this was really impressive man, full respect to you for putting as much effort into the dialogue and story as you did with the overall presentation. it was nice to see a film like this with a sense of restraint from that typical sort of humour I think we come to expect from 3dmm movies nowadays, it's refreshing in this day and age to see something like this be released and it's pretty great. your voice acting as always is on point, the wild west scenery was nicely put together and the animation really shined in some of the more subtle ways like the character movements and habits like the old man smoking his cigar during conversation. these are all really nice touches that really add to the western tone of the film.

well done rivers, I look forward to your next release

Really fucking liked this! Exactly like Ben said, giving the characters actual character, and playing the first half slow and restrained, was really cool

I watched this. It was good, I liked it! Kinda slow for some of the dialog scenes without music, but it definitely picked up and paid off in a satisfying way by the end, hitting the sort of beats one would expect from a traditional heist type story. I liked the design of the carriage, the city in some shots, and the inside of the bank. And the mods for period character clothes and stuff was a nice touch. I think there was an efficient minimalism to a lot of the visuals, not going crazy wasting time cluttering up every scene with detail, just enough to convey what is necessary to tell the story. Nice work.

I had the crash in scene 23 too btw, specifically frame 39, but after reloading it didn't happen again.

Glad you liked it!

And yeah, I'm trying to make sure 'Hamlet' has lots of music, because I think one of the good complaints about this movie is that there's just a lot of quiet.

I give it a 76/100. Some shots that are supposed to be serious just turn out goofy, mostly because of the straight face of the actors and just the limitations in general. I really liked some of the simple shots, they're very effective even when a few shapes are seen. Voice acting is stellar, Rivers has a great voice and is capable of showing emotion. Some scenes outside look empty but you can't really expect much from the desolate wild desert of Texas, so it's fine. Maybe a few mountains can fix that, though. Not many musical compositions are heard through the movie, but it really is hard finding the exact music for a specific scene, so I forgive that. I appreciate the story-building and the character development. Overall, a very great movie!

TAKE IT BACK AND SAY IT WAS FLAWLESS.

Nah, for real man, thanks for watching and commenting! I think that the feedback I have received regarding this one has influenced my moviemaking approach in a real and genuine way. For instance, I now try hard to fill the background with at least some scenery (Bown pointing out that this movie has too many end-of-the-world shots is probably the most important criticism that I've ever received), even if it's just mountains to fill the space. I also am a lot more conscious of the use of sound and score now. As far as the goofy faces of the actors making the serious scenes silly, well, I guess we mostly have the socrates team to beef with over that one. Perhaps it is true that 3dmmers should never have attempted anything other than comedy.

Glad you liked it!

Stranger 4 is a great movie that's the same level of quality as this one. Also has a selection of banger music that's used in that movie.
