No CD fix

Hi folks, I used to play 3DMM as a kid in the 90s but am new to the community so if this is the wrong place to ask please redirect me - I couldn't find a general troubleshooting thread.

So I recently decided to reconnect with the program due to my nostalgia for it and wanting to make quirky videos for a project.
I found a download online, and my first time using it after all these years went brilliantly. However, I just went to boot it up again for another use, but this time it wants me to insert the disc, which I don't have. Very confusing that I was able to use it with no issues the first time, but now it asks for a CD.
I searched around online and found the no CD patch on this forum which I assumed would do the trick, but it also said "unable to find 3dmmCD.". I then saw that the post was made in 2006, so chances are this is out of date? Many help videos on the topic are also older and refer me to the same thing.

So, is there a solution for this? Have I installed it wrong somehow the first time around? (Not hugely tech savvy) Will I need to just buy a disc version of it?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

when I download the no CD patch it's a single file.

Just tried to place the file into Program Files > Microsoft Kids > 3D Movie Maker, similar to what you said, but no luck. Did you mean a different folder?

This is what I see when I try to run the No CD file as it is.

The NoCD patch just moves file from your install media to the proper directory.

It's looking for the CD you used to install 3dmm.

https://3dmm.com/showthread.php?t=17038

You can download 3dmm from there, and then just do step 2 in the instructions:

2. Once it's installed, run the no-CD patch, OR copy all of the files from 3DMOVIE100\3DMOVIE to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Kids\3D Movie Maker. Yes to All on overwriting.
