What keeps you motivated on working on movies?

Making people say "holy shit" is what i thrive for in my future animations. It just hits different than the usual compliments you get from your animation.

If I'm being fr I just like making animation and to entertain myself. I like to keep my plots simple and rely on stuff that makes me happy. I make stuff up as I go along and try to make it make sense. I rarely go in with any serious plot. Not every movie needs to be some epic adventure and I'm happy making smaller stuff for now. The only reason I'm so locked in with the contest is because it's good to have a deadline with some actual consequence!

That ‘god damn’ moment was same for me, except I kinda found it in Plopilpy. He would always go wild over shit I’d send him and it helped with some motivation. I also enjoyed pizza getting impressed by things. I either like people being blunt, honest and critical about stuff I make, really being honest and telling you it’s shit or doesn’t work or people being fairly impressed. As a way of practicing writing, I recently submitted short stories to this website to get feedback from writers and all I got was white women in their 40s being too nice and that doesn’t have the same effect as feedback from people here, as I enjoy how the community can be blunt about things. Feedback from that place was akin to getting feedback from your mom.

Same here, for real. I use 3DMM mostly for fun and as a creative outlet. But seeing people either enjoy my work, or being honest and give constructive feedback in order to help me improve, feels great. That shit galvanizes me to create more quality and enjoyable stuff.

This one dude I know was blunt and said he thought something I wrote was bad, but went into detail. For me that’s the most effective way to motivate me, because not only are you taking what they say into account but you also want to prove them wrong with what you make next.

True. It's satisfying to prove to people that you can improve your artistic skills. Just don't go overboard trying to appease everyone. Sometimes a majority will like your work, but a certain few will remain critical of the stuff you do. Some are jaded, grouchy or hard to please, so listen to criticism that's important and widely agreed upon critique of your work.

Yeah ofc. The dude also prefers Nickelback over the Beatles so I take his opinion with a slight grain of salt haha
