3dmm websites did that in the sense that it kept people outside of 3dmm.com.

The absence of external 3dmm websites has definitely had an impact in the past two years.

I'd do one, but I utterly detest making and maintaining websites.

and what is even the point of a 3dmm page now? it seems like everything can be done with 3dmm.com... pages are cool, but kind of pointless. the reviews, screens, previews, links, tutorials, everything is here at 3dmm.com that used to be on 3dmm websites.

That's one of the reasons Lock 'N Toad was discontinued.

But nobody really reviews anything here, so the thrill of seeing your movie go up on Explode Productions or 3dmm.co.uk or DragonFilms is replaced by one- or two-line comments from about 20 people. If you're lucky. In theory, it should be the central hub, but in practice, no one's offering much in the way of feedback anymore, so it isn't working.

What happened to the AVI conversion project? The main problem is that no one wants to make movies where there's no audience. The increase in standards isn't the reason for 3dmm's downfall. We just needed an increase in motivation to balance it all out. And Imagine the sparks of motivation you'd get if you knew you could get views any where near this (cause we all know the motivation of making a movie is getting your dick sucked afterwards ):

Those numbers are very possible for 3dmm movies. Which is why I'm suprised it hasn't been done yet. We could make a channel on youtube.com named "3dmm", convert and release one of our top movies everyday (for like two months), And then put a link in the movie description, taking them to an Explode Productions-like website hosting each one of the movies (only in AVI format).

I don't care much for the idea of splitting up a 12-minute movie into two seperate pieces, and a large portion of youtube's audience is clinically retarded. But I have to reluctantly admit this is a good idea.

I'd rather do Google Video, personally, but I guess there's no reason we can't do both.

I made an attempt to convert a bunch of shorter movies to post on Youtube/Google Video, but they always ended up horribly out of sync when uploaded.

The minute limit is only for regular members. Ask to be considered a 'director' and you can upload, what is it.. two hour movies? Yeah, I've done that. You could get Vlarion up

I'd all be up for making/maintaining/hosting that if need be.

i still think the AVI idea for 3DMM on Youtube is good.. it'd just be good if a better 3DMM was made though , sorta like 'The Movies' but the movies was extremely shit due to limitation and crapiness of the overall concept.. just put 3DMM and The Movies together and whatever comany does will make quite a bitta $$$$ .. and being able to make the movie an MPEG or WMV would be awesome..

v3dmm is about the closest this community's going to get to a new 3dmm, so the potential for a wider audience will be limited to those who can overlook the 1995-esque graphical quality.

A new moviemaking program with 3DMM's accessibility and ease with better lighting, coloring, a more comprehensive interface, and video output would be fantastic. The fact that one hasn't shown up since 3DMM is a travesty.

We've done that. They're not interested. Unfortunately.

BTW, sigs must be images only, and they have to be 325x60 pixels in size. Use the [img] tag only in the Signature field of your profile.

(Also, it's not a good idea to hotlink your sig straight from another site. Try setting up an account on Psychoholiday - use the Uploader link in the top-righthand corner of the main page).

There's definatly the possibility of using 3dmm for Machinima. You can use Vue (or a good terrain maker) for good 3d backgrounds, or just draw the 2d backgrounds like anime.

What I'd definatly love to see is a "Best of 3dmm.com Machinima/3dmm Movies on Youtube.com" where 3dmm.com can advertise free downloads of the 3d movie maker program, basically try to pull in a crowd.

Eventually, maybe, a couple thousand people would catch on. Just an idea.

I think everybody can find fun in movies like Jonny Samsonite. I think if we whored out that movie on YouTube alone we'd find SOME sort rise in outside interest

and I mean REALLY whore it out, we could just send out JS to everyone and be like "LOOK AT THIS FUNNY 3D ANIMATED MOVIE! LOL," basically how EVERY well known macro and youtube video got to be interweb-famous, y'know?

where is the short films involving people getting blown up or short comedy about porn. thats what the community was about lots of small films where the big ones like DD or Nuts or whatever it was called (the one with the squirrels) were rare treats or strokes of genious. once these came out everyone wanted to make them and so the process of big long drawn out movies began.

my sage advice. keep it simple keep it short and enjoy making it. i used to make stuff in a day or a week. there are one or two wib sketches which i animated as i made up the lines on the spot there was no such thing as pre preduction in my day.

so there you have it thats basically why its dying its all been taken too seriously. and before you flame me there were only a handful of serious movies about most made by ben williams.

will maltby, jon sapone, matt mcgowan, me and tom kerns and probably a few more used to make short funny movies that made no sense but they were fun to watch. I want to install 3dmm to see what stuff is being made but just reading the forums it seems tome i have to patch and mod the shit out of it to watch anything.
TRUE TRUE TRUE TRUE TRUE
