thats not true as you see from the above github projects - there is already a build with VS2022 on Win 11 - it builds, if it runs is a different question

for building with nearly original System a Win XP + VC++ 2.0 is old enough

the source is just not buildable out of the box - even on the original system, due to some changes that were not documented or the developer done them manual when creating a release build - its not super complex if you are a C/C++ developer

there will be a fully build available in some weeks, then its possible to check whats broken

Interesting, although the C++ redistributable runtime package compiler SDK API IDE causes errors with the Hydrophlexilistic Superconvexinatilizer due to the async variable throwing an undefined value to the console output

Even with Win95 and the Visual C++ 2.0 installed it won't build. They had to remove some libraries (licensing probably). I wouldn't be surprised if we see an OpenGL port or something here in the near future though.

Edit:
Llm beat me to it

as i said "not out of the box" but that is unrelated to the age of the compiler or os - its just not cleanly released - the C++ code even pre C++98 is very clean for a project of that age

So what exactly is Kauai? I haven't been able to find any info on it other than digging through the source code. It appears to be a script parser that Microsoft created for various projects?

If we are in need of re-skinning 3DMM or adding custom things, I would definitely sign up to make 2D McZees as necessary.

This is the shot in the arm 3dmm needed- very well done!

This is great. I hope it opens many pathways to a new 3DMM modding era. I would totally get back into using the program

I managed to get a fully successful build of 3DMM. It works, though with some graphical glitches and with the audio mixing completely borked.
I'm aware that people have already got 3DMM to build, but I haven't seen anyone get it running so far.
