The Official Collection of 3DMM/Modding Tutorials

This is new, modern age, 3dmm/v3dmm/7gen/modding tutorial thread.
With the recent rise in mods and modding, some very helpful people have made some great new tutorials - and there's some old ones lost in the depths.

This is not a manual for 3dmm, but will contain some more advanced techniques and tricks of the trade.

This will be the new OFFICIAL list and replace the old, outdated tutorials thread.

Technical Issues [Troubleshooting]3dmm Techniques [Tips and Tricks]3dmm Utilities [How to Use the Toolset]Advanced Modding [Creation, Editing, Techniques]
I am still collecting Tutorials and for some of the outdated ones I will probably go back, rewrite them, and remake the broken images, repost, and relink. This is a growing list and I will continually make changes and update it.

Yeah I was trying to find my tutorials I made, but then realize Travis never finished the BUILD>VPX tool. So getting BUILD maps into 3dmm is kind of a process, I don't think enough of a demand for it really.

I might write up how to import Half Life maps, since it's the same process really.

not really a step by step tutorial tutorial, but this might be helpful for anyone curious about importing motion capture animation into 3dmm

There's no real official way of creating 3D fonts, unfortunately. Most 3D fonts use the Superdings font as a base, but even then you have to manually change ID's and such other things.

As stated above, it's really complicated. And if it's not done properly, it can cause conflicts.

You can't. You have to animate the actor and then move the prop they're holding frame by frame to match where the hand is.

Unless you model the character with the item in hand, kinda like a "Henry effect".

Thank's to everyone who posted a tutorial..
I'd sure love a v3dmm full video-course or at least a book, that'd be absolutely epic!

I was considering on making some videos explaining advanced 3dmm techniques. If I knew someone would actually watch it, then I'd be up for it.

That would be so helpful, I'd gratefully appreciate it! Learning some user tricks for modelling or camera work would be absolutely amazing...
Maybe you could also teach us how to use some of the utilities out there?
