8th Annual 3dmm.com Awards 2006
Space Goat's Avatar
Plot Summary:
All your votes have been tallied, and the winners are announced, in this year's annual 3dmm.com awards movie. We invite you to sit back, relax, and enjoy this compilation of clips taken from 2006's list of nominees.

I'm not sure if you remember, but earlier this year we voted on the best movies and directors of 2006. Now that we're already half-way through 2007, I'm happy to announce that it's finally time to declare the winners!

The movie is broken up into 4 separate WMV files, and has a playlist included so you can play them all at once in the correct order. I've also included a text file that lists more detailed results for each nominee and category, and also a photograph of the trophy that we had made for the winner of BEST MOVIE. Please remember to extract all the file contents to your PC before playing.

For this years awards, I learned a method to encode the video at 544x306 pixels, the native resolution of 3D Movie Maker. Consequently, I think you will notice that the quality is greatly improved over last years presentation, and the file size is considerably smaller. Unfortunately, I had a great deal of difficulty maintaining framerates in 3dmm while capturing the movies. I do not know what caused this, but I was not able to completely eliminate the problem, so you will have to excuse some of the subtle hiccups that you may notice during the presentation.

The only requirement to watch this is Windows Media Player 9+, or at least any media player that can read WMV9 encoded video files. I don't expect many people will have any problems playing this, since Microsoft has done a fairly decent job distributing their codec. However, if you do have issues, I recommend you update your Windows Media Player installation to version 9 or higher.

Special thanks goes out to all of those who helped make this movie possible. Tom Breed was extremely helpful in handling the nominations, and was always eager to pitch in a helping hand during the making of the final presentation. Michael Sandford lended his animation tallents for the opening introduction. HMC created some wonderful vector artwork that we had professionally engraved onto the trophy. Also, I'd like to thank Anders Borg and Richard Bevis for persistently inquiring about the status of this project. Without their enthusiastic support, it is possible that you would still be waiting for this to be released!

Thanks for viewing, and please leave comments!

Okay watched.

AARON HAYNES WINS LIKE EVERYTHING

The intro was awesome. Choice of music was BRILLIANT. Especially during the nominations bit. Goddamn, it was so well presented. Totally worth the wait.

* Ruffles Da-t's hair. *

I loved it. LOVED IT. The montage of movies totally made my day

Some random musings...

Congratulations to Aaron Haynes for winning PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING YOU WERE NOMINATED FOR.

There was something just amazing about the thirty second run through the year's joke movies. The way the music synced up was just perfect.

In fact, the choice of music throughout the entire piece was perfection itself. Nicely picked, and perfectly timed.

In fact, what IS that music? I want one.

Hahah. The Tom Bown campaign did suprisingly well too.

That animation at the beginning was fantastic. KUDOS TO YOU MICHAEL SANDFORD.

This was a fantastic reminder of why I am still here. In the end, it boils down to the entertainment, and 3dmm.com delivers. This movie stands as a testament to all that I love about the 3dmm community, and to the creative juices that continue flowing in spite of naysayers and scammers. Good hustle guys.

Ten out of ten

That was incredibly well-done, even though the results were a little odd. Not that Vlarion didn't deserve it though.

Thanks for all the ironic votes, everyone! Maybe next year.

hahaha I was in for 3 of the movies nominated for Best Series and didn't win

Everything about this was awesome, but let me also point out that the results sheet was pretty funny, too. Like for 'Best Community Member,' and the 30 people that voted for themselves and Graham Simmons

Wow, I actually made it into 3 categories this time. I still reckon The Lion should have gotten into the shorts category.

If Vlarion wasn't there, there would have been more winners, but you can't disagree that movie doesn't deserve the best of everything we could ever give to it or its incomparable director.
