3DMM Sound Library
Aaron Haynes's Avatar
Description:
The entire 3dmm sound library in .wav form.

Travis ripped this for me a while back, for a non-3dmm school project I desperately needed sounds for at the last minute. Since I've got it here, and since I've got the webspace, I went ahead and uploaded it.

While working on Vlarion 1, I've found it to be incredibly useful. There are a lot of times when the default version of a given sound isn't quite what I want, but changing the pitch, messing with the EQ settings, or adding echoes and reverbs gives the scene a whole new dimension. Sometimes it's something simple like creating a fading footstep loop for a long scene where doing it manually would take ages, but sometimes I actually warp and modify and combine a bunch of different sounds from the library to make something entirely different. Open these in Goldwave or Audacity or any sound editing program and you'd be surprised how much fun you can have giving your movie a distinctive sound.

Thanks again to Travis for doing this.

This is something I've been half-wanting for a long time.

I had to use this for an old copy of Summoned; I did it the manual way for a couple of footsteps. This is much more convenient. Thanks a lot!

I can't use winrar for some reason, especially new winrar files. Old ones from 1998, work? why is that?

May I please have this as a Winzip file?

I'm not one to complain or whine, but is there a possibility for this as a Winzip file?

Those sounds are different to the ones in my 3dmm...! US and UK versions have different sound effects as well?

Is it possible to do the same for the default music? It's not that I want to use it in a movie, but I really like some of the default tunes. 'Mystery Evil' has some sort of noir vibe to it and 'Wraith' and 'Spirit' are truly creepy.

Nope. Apparently 3dmm compresses MIDI files in a weird way that makes them unextractable.

I never got round to saying before, thanks for this. It's very useful.

It's helped out in some non-3dmm videos of mine .

Yeah I was trying to use these samples in ableton but it seems like they're in some fuck up format.

Download the beta (1.3) of audacity and then google for "audacity batch process." The only command you need to run is "exportwav" and it will make a folder called "cleaned" with the wav file resampled and usable in other programs.
