NCommander on youtube did a 12 hour stream and finally getting it compiled and ran. He just shut down the stream but here's Foone's tweet on it

Last week, Microsoft released the source code to Movie Maker 3-D, one earliest 3-D animation tools released to the general public, mostly on the request of the legendary Foone. Unfortunately, that same week, a draft judgment made by SCOTUS leaked, showing the high court planned to overturn Roe vs. Wade, and deny women automony over their own body. Ontop of that, the judgment as penned also argues court cases that provided LGBT rights, and contraception were misargued.

As we did before with Linux from Scratch, I'm fundraising to try and help raise awareness, and get resources out there to help fight what will be a long cold twilight struggle.

The version in my fork now compiles and works, thanks to a bunch of work from Ben Stone & NCommander. You can copy the EXE into an existing install and it'll work fine.

you're friggin awesome, I tried getting this and the nick one to work for many years but gave up. I was afraid this would be relegated to DOSBox/VirtualBox, but its great to see a modern port, when I heard about 3dmm releasing, I thought it was Windows Movie Maker at first, but this is just as good, I hope for Windows Movie Maker next considering that's how I made my videos back then. Fo-one you are No[mbre]-one.

TL;dr:
1. Collect more BRender versions, pester companies to get more BRender games open sourced.
2. Make a modernized-3DMM version. Minimal changes, just get it working on Windows 10/11, fix bugs that popped up because of changes in windows over the last 27 years.
3. Make a 3DMM But Better version. (I am, of course, calling it Movie Maker Plus). Drop the 256-color limitation, native video export, easy importing of new textures/objects, replace the rendering, new tools for making movies, etc.

y'know what would be cool? custom theme support
i absolutely dig the aesthetics of the nick version of the program

I know this is still all very new and it’ll be a long time before we get new major tools or anything but it’s hard not to be wildly excited for the potential, the idea of the same style of program/ease of use with hidden depths but updated and with more QoL and modern features is incredible.
