Do you have a Micro Center near you? When prices first started rising I was able to get a Samsung 2tb drive there for $80 while everywhere else was above $140 for the same drive.

Though this was a week ago, so I'm not sure if they have adjusted to the current market prices. I wish you luck on your search, everything I've heard about the price of hard drives is not looking good. And even once the supply chain is sorted out, you know it'll be awhile until prices are where they were.

I may have a 640gb drive I could clear out if you are completely out of space. Just let me know.

I was going to order on Newegg, but could be OK with Amazon. Every TB drive on Newegg is now over $100, while a week or two ago the same drives were $60 or so.
I even made this face when I looked at the prices page today:

Cool, thanks for the Micro Center tip, I'll check if there's one I can get to tomorrow. If not I'll just wait it out, maybe Christmas deals will help bring the price back to where it was or something

If it's any consolation I just participated in that Amazon deal where you buy two games and get one free, with Uncharted 3, Arkham City, and Gears of War 3, and I bet in about a week they'll run the promo again and have Saints Row 3, which I would have GLADLY taken over Gears 3 any day of the week...

YEAH, WELL, LAST YEAR I ORDERED MY CURRENT PC AND THE NEXT DAY NEWEGG ADDED A DEAL THAT WOULD HAVE GIVEN ME $200 STORE CREDIT FOR THE SAME ORDER

I could have cancelled the order I guess, but they already had some parts in shipment.
edit: that was dumb. i should have gotten the $200
