well it's totally normal to say "I'm going to the store for a minute" or something when you don't actually mean a minute, but I think using it in the past tense like that is kinda new

it's not new, i grew up on it. ya'll are thinking about this way too academically. it's all in the way the word 'minute' is accented. you just have to hear it i guess.
