Fred Phelps is protesting at my school this week.

For those of you who don't know, Fred Phelps is a pastor who founded Westboro Baptist church, an extremist anti-homosexual church that pickets the funerals of soldiers and gays. He also has a ton of children who he has hold signs that say stuff like GOD HATES FAGS and THANK GOD FOR DEAD SOLDIERS.

anyway, they're holding a protest at my school this week. So yeah... it's pretty intense stuff. a bunch of news coverage and shit.

Got this from his Wikipedia page.

Quote:
Since the early 1990s, Phelps has targeted several individuals and groups in the public eye for criticism by the Westboro Baptist Church.

Prominent examples include President Ronald Reagan, Princess Diana, Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist, National Football League star Reggie White, Sonny Bono, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, atheists, Muslims, murdered college student Matthew Shepard, the late children's television host Fred Rogers, the late Australian actor Heath Ledger, Comedy Central's Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, political commentator Bill O'Reilly, Jews, Catholics, Swedes, the Irish and US soldiers killed in Iraq. He has also targeted the Joseph Estabrook Elementary School in Lexington, Massachusetts, center of the David Parker controversy. In 2007 he stated that he would target the late Rev. Jerry Falwell's funeral.

Sounds like you've got a really fun guy coming to your school, Rivers.

Donnie, you're out of your element.

Rivers, the media is having a fucking field day with these jackasses right now, which is exactly what they shouldn't do, but you can't help it. If you antagonize them, it'll just strengthen their resolve. Best to just ignore them.

Yeah, these guys love publicity. They do this sort of thing because they know it stirs shit up. The best thing to do is just ignore them, the news coverage is exactly what they want.

I'd love to go and do a sarcastic counter-protest to them one day, just like the one mounted against them when they went to San Fran:
