I got jumped tonight...

Worst/scariest thing I have ever experienced. I was walking into a friends apartment at about 10pm tonight when a guy came jogging around the corner yelling at me to hold the door. When he got close to me he goes "man it's fucking cold" and the next thing I know he just fucking hits me harder than I've ever been hit. I twist around and land on my hands and knees on the snow and he immediately jumps on my back and puts me in a tight choke hold.
It was an indescribable feeling, my only thought was that he was trying to kill me, it all happened so fast that I didn't have any chance to react or do anything. I tried to yell for him to stop but all that came out was that nasty "gurgling" sound you hear when someone gets choked in movies. He choked me until I blacked out and I woke up in the snow about 8 minutes later without a clue where I was.
My wallet, keys, phone and money are all gone. I just spent the last hour talking to cops that aren't going to be able to do anything since I only caught a glimpse of the guy. I hope feels great about the fucking $40 and a used cell phone I had on me.
My adrenaline is absolutely pumping right now over two hours later, I will not sleep tonight. Although now I obviously don't think he was actually trying to kill me, I still feel very happy to be alive. Being forcefully choked to the point of blacking out is fucking scary scary shit. Man...

I could swear I've read this thread before. Anyways, that sucks man, it's a good thing you don't have any serious injuries.

Dude that's like my worst fucking nightmare. Im sorry, man. I would be a wreck having gone through that.

And no, do not buy a fucking knife.

As much as it might be a belittling or humiliating experience, you just have to remember that that person already lives a much more tortured existence than you do.

Bringing a weapon into the matter only intensifies the situation.

shit man that sucks, next time someone tells you to hold the door for them, slam the door in their face.

"man it's fucking cold" is gonna be a sentence that you won't like to hear in future i bet

Thanks for the support guys, I more or less just needed to write it out or tell someone since nobody was awake at my house when I got home. It feels more like a dream than anything now except for my throat being very swollen.

I've been in a similar, but much less scary/violent, situation before. http://3dmm.com/showthread.php?t=37809 My thoughts on carrying guns/weapons still stands. I will not be buying a knife or anything. Just being a little more cautious.

I came in to this thread thinking jumped as in being attacked by a group of people, like I was, not one person. Either way it can be a scary experience.

If you ever get attacked like that again, your best way of escaping the situation is to pick the attacker up, no matter how heavy - Just try, and slam him down. Running will only intensify the situation, and having them chase after you will only rile them up more - and possibly doing you more harm when caught.

Maybe take up some sort of self defence class? A quick chop to the throat is normally enough to scare someone off, or stun them long enough for you to get away.

There was absolutely nothing I could've done as far as fighting back. There was no warning and I had no clue what was even going on until after it was already over. When somebody punches you that hard when you aren't expecting it, you feel like you just got hit by a train.

I had the same thing happen to me, round Dundee there are 'Schemes', and I had 9 older guys attack me outside of a club without warning, dropping the biggest guy on his back scared him and his friends off. Normally it works, but y'know.. It depends on the situation. If he punched you that hard, I guess there really was nothing more you could do - The choking thing though? If you were to take MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) classes or something, you wouldn't have been in such a severe situation, just a thought though.

Wow, that's fucked up. But this is America, so go buy some pepper spray. Most people don't expect a DUDE to carry pepper spray, and that is WHY it works in a dangerous situation.

Wait, so let me get this straight, you had nine guys surround you, you knocked one guy down and the rest of them ran away?

Where was your friend during all this if you were walking into his apartment?
