Can you honestly say you'd refuse that?

but... why did they give him that role... why not Will Cruise or something?

Because he's a good actor and likable and just bankable enough to make it worthwhile, without commanding a huge upfront payday like Cruise or Will Smith would. I.E. Matthew Broderick in Godzilla.

Why does Roland Emmerich hate cities and monuments?

That clip was so frustrating to watch, the film looks seriously terrible.

I dont think it looks TERRIBLE, but it looks like more of the same bullshit. Roland Emmerich and Michael Bay really need to get together with someone who can make a good movie and just do the special effects and action sequences and shit. They need someone to tell them "no".

You guys, I think this movie knows exactly what it is. THey're pretty upfront saying "yeah, this is basically going to be shit going totally CGI batshit nuts for a couple hours". Thats fuckin alright with me, man. That has its place.

I agree, there is definitely a place for these types of movies - let's call them 'Disaster' movies - and I'm glad someone is making them. If it's a bad movie, it'll be called out on it, it's not we just say "Oh, ok, it's one of those, can't judge it then". Look at Independence Day, I loved the shit out of the movie, but The Day After Tomorrow really just didn't do it for me.
And you can't compare Emmerich to Bay, not after Transformers 2. When you go in expecting a typical Bay-style brainless, CG filled explosion fest and it still fails to deliver, I write them off. Bay is dead to me. Dead.
