Something sure lit a fire under our asses last year. I blame George Bush.

I don't think that gays are immoral or evil or anything like that, gay 'pride' is about as moronic as fat 'pride.' I'm for getting rid of social security, that seems a little ridiculous to me, and about public education, I'm not sure specifically what that would entail but I think the claim might be misleading from the source information.

There were lots of hilarious quotes but this one makes me cringe at Compcat the most. I know it's about issues I feel strongly for, but it's a perfect Compcat post. Shortsighted, barely literate musings by a surburban middle class teenager.

My 3D work is going fine, Adrian, thanks for asking.

However, I don't trust your appraisal of it anymore, cause you're incapable of dealing straight with me about it. So stop trying to make these clumsy troll posts and turning every thread into the Adrian Pikios Show.

These threads don't have much value. If you compare them to other boards, the level of argumentation is low.

Considering your participation in the financial crisis thread, you are probably the last person that should be arguing for higher argumentation levels.

I'm sorry that it offends you but I actually am right. A genetic trait that limits a specie's ability to survive (in this case reproduce) is a DEFECT. Its nothing to be proud of. That simple.

You would be right (biologically speaking) if homosexuality limited a species' ability to survive.

But you have no evidence of homosexuality limiting a species' ability to survive. Furthermore, common sense and logic tell us that homosexuality does not limit a species' ability to survive, certainly not a species like man.

Therefore, you are wrong.

You could make that same argument on why autism isn't a genetic defect.

No, you could not make the same argument on why autism isn't a genetic defect.

This is what you posted:

Quote:

You are specifically saying that homosexuality is a genetic trait that "limits a species' ability to reproduce".

Homosexuals do not have any genetic limitations towards reproduction. A homosexual male can have sex with a female, hetero or homosexual. A homosexual female can have sex with a male, hetero or homosexual. Many homosexual males and females actually have children. They do not have any genetic problem being able to reproduce. They also do not have any genetic problem being able to raise a child, which biologically is all that is needed. The problem they might have, due to their lifestyle, is that they will not want to be in a marriage with the father/mother of their child. But marriages are not natural, and are not needed for a species to survive. If their goal is to reproduce, they are able to achieve this goal with no problem, or certainly no more of a problem than an ugly man would have to reproduce. Therefore, that is not an impediment for a species' ability to reproduce, genetically or socially.

This is if we are only focusing on the individual act of reproduction, but species act in groups. There is a possibility that some homosexuality is needed in a group and that members with homosexual characteristics can actually be very useful for the survival of the species as a whole, just not their direct lineage.

We know that historically homosexuality has existed for centuries, and the human race has certainly been able to survive. Some of the most prosperous civilizations were notorious in their homosexual relationships, such as Greece and Rome. So I am not sure what part of history you are basing your argument on.

Since logic and experience strongly suggest that no, homosexuality is not a genetic trait that hinders the species' ability to survive, do you have some sort of evidence that contradicts this? Maybe population research that shows decreased rates of birth in populations under the same conditions but with more homosexuals, or examples of human societies that collapsed because of decreasing birth-rates caused by homosexuality?

You don't have any of this evidence because you have repeatedly proven you have absolutely no idea what you are talking about in terms of science.

The Gay rights movement and gay pride is a direct response and rejection of a century + of discrimination, victimization and homophobia. Gay pride is about unifying and rejecting the second-class citizen status that gay people have been forces into.

See, you can say things like "well, I'm not proud to be straight, why should they be?" but the thing is, heterosexuality has been constructed - through Industrialism and Religion and a variety of other influences - as the social "norm." Bisexuality and homosexuality are seen as sinners, and for a long time, filthy individuals and most importantly, something to be hidden and to be ashamed of (eg, the as-abhorrent attitude of 'I don't care what they are, so long as they don't do it in public.') Gay pride is a direct response to this. The fact that you need this explained to you, along with your opinions of race and a country's responsibility to its citizens, is really telling about who you are and what sort of background and position in society you come from.

Homosexuality is as great a threat as rainforest destruction, says the pope.

It worries me that someone in his position seems to have the same insight as Compcat.
