That's awesome. How he uses a really narrow depth of field is what makes the effect, as he says in the article. It's very similar to macro photography, which gives it that strange effect of looking like reality but seeming tiny as well.

It's the blurs. Makes it look like the object is really close, when it's a large aerial shot from far away.

Hmm, I understand the blurring effect to make everything look small, but is it just clever positioning and lighting which makes everything look so clean and plastic?

Cool effect, but pretty bad pictures. The excessive blurring makes it difficult to enjoy

Give/take, I suppose

Also I think it corrects lens distortion, so the perspective is corrected (lines dont converge).

They look really awesome, although I have to study them for like 2 minutes to appreciate them as real photos.

That's just because it's aerial photography and the camera was zoomed in. At large distances, when you zoom in it gives the appearance that lines don't converge (I have no idea what "perspective correction" is). In actual fact they do converge, but the effect is much less obvious.

If I can find a lens for 20 bucks or less, I think I'm gonna make a tilt shift lens. My photo teacher says I might be able to find one at a pawn shop for pretty cheap, but seems kinda suspicious. I don't wanna fuck up my only lens at the moment though.
