Oooh, I think you should also reset the 'Most users online' thing. It's at 250 or something.

I'll have to watch my bandwidth and see if we can afford larger avatars. However, I will don't think I will ever let you go above 80x80.

As for sigs, I really tried to find a better size, and tested this quite a bit. In all honestly, 325x60 really looked the best. I couldn't come up with anything better.

Plus, making everyone change would be a real pain in the ass.

Ooh, Goat - regarding the voting system for movies: would it be feasible to have the rating that each member gave for the movie viewable in a seperate list? If it's not too far fetched, a single-line summary from each voting member to accompany that rating would be neat (rottentomatoes.com-like).

It'd be quite a neat, summarised version of the actual thread - and maybe keep the thread content to longer reviews and queries rather than short 'I liked this!' replies.

Yes, I think we will do that.

Also, one thing I was considering, was to make certain users have more influence in the score. Basically, give all their scores more weight. This status could be something determined automatically by post count in 3dmm forums? Or perhaps, to entice people to post detail reviews in the reviews section, have all scores in there be weighted more heavily?

Additionally, I've noticed with movies directed by more than one person - in the 'Movie Highlights' not all of the names are displayed (some sort of character limit) and the profile tries to link to a member with the name (for example) 'Demented Ferret and Cowtacular Spleen'. You should try splitting links between occurances of
','
' and '
and
'&'

Or something.

Yeah, that's actually a pretty good idea, I don't know why I didn't think of it earlier. I was contemplenting having an entirely separate table to list all the directors in, and have them linked to the movie with a list of FK's in the database...this makes a lot more sense. I gave up on my other idea because it was just too much work, and thought we could get by without it.

Weighted rating seems like a good idea until you see forums like 'Newgrounds.com' where your average schmo has about 0.1% of the voting weight of a normal member. If you can think of a system everyone will agree on - it'd be a nice idea.

I think MOST people should have the same review-rights, but maybe have a team of 5 3dmm.com official 'critics' (which could be voted by a poll every 3 months) that have their entires automatically bolded/RED'D and moved to the top of the previously mentioned list would be quite neat.

I was thinking this "top critic" status could be put in their custom title. That was one of the "creative" things I mentioned earlier on how to utilize those.

I agree, that would at least be a constructive use for them. I was also thinking - It'd be nice to 'Spotlight' the best movies of maybe the previous week, even a line similar to:

Last weeks highest rated movie was Movie Name Here by Director with a rating of 7/10

Underneath or connected to the current Spotlight would be quite nice, seeming as the spotlight focus can be changed pretty quickly.

This all sounds very good!
In an unrelated point, do we get message icons?

I think black message text looks better than the grey that we have right now, but that might just be me...

I think sometime in the future it would be cool to have a feature to distinguish movies that have won awards or received award nominations.

That's what the awards section is for. Third button from the left.

Message icons do not really serve a purpose.

Anyways, I thought of an idea. Howabout the ability to resize images in a quote (or they're automatically resized by 50% or something)? So, basically we would be able to do like or something.

As long as it wasn't misused to shrink images that are not already in the thread or somewhere (ex: uploading an image 1000px*1000px, then posting it at 500px*500px), I don't think that it would be very harmful.

As long as clicking the quoted thumbnailed images links you to the original post and picture that'd be an idea worth looking into.

Yeah, I was thinking about that too. I wasn't sure if would create an issue when the image is already a link (then if you were quoting the image for just that link, the world would topple over).

But either way, I think it would probably be useful.

Ohhhh, yeah, I already made one. I forgot to put it up.

Anyone know how to keep your browser from mixing it up with other favicons from other sites? I've had the same problem in both IE and firefox. Maybe I shouldn't name it "favicon.ico"?

Any way to have them NOT deleted when you clean out your temp internet files?

I've never come across Firefox mixing up or losing my favicons, regardless of temporary file deletion and whatnot. It may help to explicitly specify the favicon in the header, though.

<link rel="Shortcut Icon" type="image/ico" href="http://www.3dmm.com/favicon.ico" />

Yeah, I'm having that same problem.
