What board do you admin? Hang on, you're on MSN. I'll ask you privately.

(New board post count +1)

One thing that I generally point out with every vB3 board ever is how Jelsoft basically nullified the margin between the post's end and the signature's beginning by default, as opposed to before where there was a distinguishing gap; it makes things look very squashed-together, and makes this whole 'the sigs!' problem that everyone's bitching about look a lot worse than it is.

If you just stuck a few <br /> tags above it or wrapped it in <p>s or something it'd probably look a lot better.

The only other thing that immediately bothers me is the post reply/thread buttons. I really love the effect that you've got with your darker areas (eg: "Page 2 of 2," in this thread), how it's got light text on a dark background, then a light border, then dark again. It works well.

Sadly, the buttons themselves lack that great use of contrast and kind of just blend into the background. In addition to that, the green text itself looks kind of blurry to me, whilst everything else is really sharp. It'd be great if you experimented with bringing the aforementioned style to the post buttons -- they'd suit the overall theme a lot better.

I like green stuff on computers. It reminds me of spaceships. Haha, remember the orange HUD Luke had in Return of the Jedi? That was so cool.

Ah yes, and the links being identical to regular text is a slight issue (spot the hidden link in this sentence). It can be difficult getting a unique link colour onto lighter designs such as this, though.

One thing you could consider is to go into your [url] vbcode area and give the links a specific class. Then, give that link class a 1px bottom border in the CSS. The end result will be an underlinked link, but you can customize the border however you like. Dash it, whatever. Leave the text itself the same and just make the border a different colour -- it's up to you. The border will also be further away from the text itself, avoiding that horrible underline-cutting-through-your-ascenders effect.

The only potential complication with the above is that images within posts which are wrapped with [url] will be underlined, too. However, whether that's a good or a bad thing is up to your discretion.

I'm a little confused as to why I've "stepped back" an avatar but whatever. Sigs may look better if just centered. I think an avatar size increase would probably make things a little nicer.

Uh, I'd like to be able to view 30 posts per page. I've totally adapted to it, anything else feels gay.

Yeah, I've just checked and that is a bit annoying. The best we have is either 20 or 40. Come on Goat m'boy. Could 30 posts be the default?

25 should be the default so that assholes like me can easily work out its increments (25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150, etc). 30 probably could use being on there as well as 25, though.

Im still having login problems. It seems that everytime I come back to 3dmm.com after going off browsing other websites I've been logged out, regardless of whether the "Remember Me" box is ticked. Is there some sort of time out thing going on here, because its really annoying when I go to post a message and I'm not logged in.

It also seems to put it on a new line as well. It's a slightly pedantic request but can anything be done?
I always hated the old action tags. I like the new ones a lot better. I should be allowed to do this, since I invented both of them.

Have you cleared all your cookies and tried starting over? Also, try not to visit the old board url, that may be messing it up.

Yeah, I agree. I was playing with this last night, to try and fix it with some fancy tables with merged cells and all that crap. I added some extra br tags above it as well...let me know if it's any better.

This is one of the reasons I debuted with the horizontal postbit template. That one worked better with the sigs, but I got too much negative feedback to keep it soley for that.

I brought over all the user accounts about a month and a half ago, and I updated it all yesterday to capture any changes that had been made on the old board since then, but I forgot to do the avatars. It's a separate table.

You should be able to update it on your own though.

You know, Windows has this really great feature that allows you to "resize" the window your browser is running in.

Would you like me to show you how?

I think that the new width makes reading easier. I like it.

I noticed something yesterday that has been pointed out again here...

http://www.3dmm.com/showthread.php?t=11827

There is no scrollbar at the bottom, so some of the picture is cut off, and whereas you can highlight the image and drag across to reveal it, there is no way of going back to the left, so you cant actually read much of the thread. I dont know if this is browser related or new-board related, but it didnt used to happen on the old board.

No idea...appears to be a Firefox issue, as Internet Explorer seems to be acting normally.

You can use your scroll-button to scroll across and back again for the time-being.

The scrolling issue almost certainly has something to do with the <div id="post_message_X"></div> which wraps each post, but I can't really pinpoint it any further. That kind of behaviour is generally caused by the overflow CSS property, but I can't find anything to indicate that other than my own assumption. :~
