Questionz

1. Is there a particularly easy way to make scenes (real scenes, not handmade) with custom palettes? I have a tendency to perceive these sorts of things as being harder than they really are. I'm pretty sure 7gen only generates scenes with the default palette. I can't think of a way to do this that doesn't involve replacing every individual color in a confusing and time-consuming process, but then again, I could just be stupid and uninformed.

2. Since I started using an OBJ2BMDL modified to convert Blender models, all the BMDLs I create don't seem to want to allow themselves to be textured correctly. All of the models I attempt to texture are solid-colored instead of textured. I'm pretty sure OBJs converted with OBJ2VXP don't do this.

1. Back in the days we used 3dmm Pencil to do everything. Yes, easy peasy.

2. Hmmm, this happened to me when I didn't include the textures. Blerrh, I haven't a clue how to fix it - sorry.

1. As far as I know, still have to do it the unspeakably tedious way. Did this last night.

Edit: You can import your edited palette into code\palette.bmp in a directory that has 7gen in it. HOWEVER, this will make that copy of 7gen only good for making stuff that uses that palette. Then make a scene in 7gen using that palette. There's something else you have to do too I think. WILL EDIT IF I REMEMBER.

2. obj2vxp currently isn't configured to convert models with both textures and gradients, so you'll get a missing texturegroups error if any part of the model isn't textured. I'm not sure how it works with Blender, but Maya objects that are textured convert fine with obj2vxp. Travis will have to field this one.

Oh, yeah, I'm still having problems with the second question. Objects converted with OBJ2VXP retain texture information, whereas objects converted with OBJ2BMDL do not.

Just use pencil to extract the BMDL out of the vxp; how long could it take?

I hate having to put so much thought into whether or not I give enough of a shit to bother doing that. Also, it makes 3D font-making extremely tedious.

Now what distinguishes a blink from a blinky?

Note: This was a rhetorical question.
