Problem installing 3DMM

Hi, I have a problem installing 3DMM on a Windows XP computer with Service Pack 2(SP2). I've looked online for possible fixes, but "repairing" the 3 files doesnt work, the windows site shows some form of fix, but its like some of the instructions simply isnt listed, and I've even tried downloading the 3 necessary files from somewhere else, but seems to make no effect at all.

Has anyone seen a fix for this ? Its the windows problem using 16 bit programs, nothing I've tried has worked so far thanks for any help anyone can give.

Does it mention anything about the Win16 error and AUTOEXEC.NT? If so, i had that problem a while ago and could help you fix it. If it's Ogg Vorbis, get this: http://v3dmm.com/downloads/ogg-remove.zip

Whats Ogg Vorbis ? Yeah it was doing the win16/autoexec.nt stuff, but after trying several times to do something, I no longer get the error, and it simply doesnt do anything anymore.

Ogg Vorbis is a music code thing i think. Make sure you get rid of it by downloading that file, Right click it and install. The Win16 error is weird. You have to go to the file AUTOEXEC.NT and edit it in word pad to say something. You also have to edit something in your DOSX.exe but i'm not sure what you have to replace it with.

I'll worry about the music thing if I ever get it installed XD

Is there anything else you can remember about the autoexec.nt and dosx.exe ? I've tried doing alot of stuff with the autoexe, command.com and that other file, but it hasnt done any good this is the first I've heard about dosx.exe so I'd like to try that if anyone can help me with some more details. Thanks anyway.

Read my first post. The install doesnt work cause I have the 16 bit program problem, but nothing I've done so far has worked, and I am looking for other things to try.

Thats one of the things I've already tried, the walkthrough is flawed and pops things out of nowhere. I also have a problem now that windows cant figure out how to open a .nt file.

To make things worse, my windows XP disk has Service pack 2 on it, so it doesnt have to correct files anyway when it "expands" or "repairs" it.

Travis is a legend, that's the site. Right Click you're AUTOEXEC.NT and its either Edit or Explore.

Windows isn't supposed to know how to open a .NT file.
And read the guide, if the expanding doesn't work, it tells you how to do it manually.

Is there anything else I can do ? My computer came pre-installed with SP2, with a disk with SP2 in it. I never had the correct files at all, so I cant magicaly "repair" the "old working files" from my C:\windows\repair\ folder. Now I can barely open any exe files from trying to "fix" this problem. Does anyone have any other suggestions ?

1. Reset with WinXP CD in
2. Set BIOS to boot off of the CD 1st.
3. Hit a key when prompted
4. Do NOT press 'r' press the 'Install Windows' key.
5. It will show you your Windows installation, select it or any option that says 'Repair' (Make sure you don't format it or install a new Windows).
6. Wait for it to repair.
7. Set the BIOS back, otherwise your booting will be slowww.
8. Should be alright.

It explains how to expand the files from the CD, or IF YOU CAN'T FOR SOME REASON, how to manually create them.
