Cal, stop being a FIGJAM. (just kidding, felt like using the word)

And 'slang' is actually normally meant, when discussing a whole nationality, all the words that belong to that nationality only. Like.... "American Slang" is what you are using, cause its american only words. But in america, if we say something is a slang word, it means its... i dunno, more casual. But if we said "British slang" we mean british only words.... if you get what i mean.
At least thats how I see it.

And some of the slang you wont say, but it still it australian/british only words.

Heres american slang:
http://www.aitech.ac.jp/~itesls/slang/

Things like "Go bananas" I wouldn't say, but I guess its american only.

POO!

Yeah, I'll give up freedom to opportunity any day for a little bit more gore in my movies!

Seriously, I think you guys need a priority check.

Fact of the matter is, the American dollar is worth more than the Australian dollar, the American economy is stronger than the Australian economy, there are more jobs available in America than Australia, and the stardard of living in America is higher than anywhere else in the world.

But yeah, if violence in video games is more important to you, then you can go on believing all that shit you just said.

...and I think you're confused Cal. The only movies that are rated NC-17 are pornos. I've never seen a movie rated that high for violence. Ever.

Goat... you are aware that the only reason for all that is that more people live in America, right? Thus more industry, etc... but if it had been Australia that people had settled in, instead of America, in the 1500s, we'd be the superpower...

And Chris...

That's what I always mean with slang.

And you do realise, that we use about 80% of the American slang on those pages you just posted a link to (considering about 70% of our TV shows and about 95% of our movies come from America)...

I mean, I know people who say "Go Bananas".

For example, from the first page of American Slang - I use these slang terms in the way Americans use them: Ace, Action, Airhead, All-Nighter, Ammo, Awesome, Bad, Barf, Bashed, Beemer, Benched

We say ALL that. It's not just American.

Yes, that slang site isnt very accurate. It would probably be more appropriate to say that those words ORIGINATED in America so long ago but has now been spread over many years so that now many countries use them.

Goat, I will have to prove something about the ratings, but I can't until I get home tonight, because I have an image that compares the Australian movie ratings with America's ones, showing how far each "section" covers.

For instance, I saw that in America, the movie BLADE is R. It's M here. Meaning anybody under the age of 15 can watch it if they want. It's not even MA, which is "restricted to people under 15 unless you are with an adult". But our R means "restricted, you can only watch this if you are over 18".

We have these ratings:

G PG M MA R

America has, as far as I remember:

G PG-13 M R NC-17 X Unrated

Now, where you have R, we have M. Maybe your "R" covers all the way up to OUR "R" movies, but for us, porno is ALSO "R".

You don't have to look it up, you can just ask. WE LIVE HERE, YOU KNOW.

G - anyone
PG - still anyone, but parents should be cautioned
PG-13 must be 12 or older to see without an adult
R - must be 17 or older to see without an adult
NC-17 - pornos--only shown in adult theaters, you'll never find one of these at your local cinema.

And it stops there.

You wanna know why its like that?
We can control the government.
A bunch of parents got together and made sure their kids don't see that stuff.
But we can still watch R or XXX movies. Its not like we'll be arrested. We can go see R movies in theaters if our parnets buy the tickets.

Check that. It shows that OUR R equals your NC-17. Now, we have a bunch of violent movies (Fight Club, most horror films, Commando, The Killer, etc) in the R category. If (like that site says) our R equals your NC-17, then I don't see why you would only have porno in the NC-17 category.

Well. There you go.

I have an american poster of Blade and it says "R" on it.

So you have to be over 17 to see Blade? LOL. Here, people of any age can see it. It's just "recommended" that you be over 15.

So I'M right and YOU are wrong, Goat.

Ok, I'm off to hang out with some "freshmen" at the "pizza parlour". Heh.
