Avian Flu?

I don't get why this is such a threat to humans. Do things like penicillin and such not work?

Think about a flu, think about how easily it spreads. Now imagine that flu has a 60-80% mortality rate. 1918 Spanish Flu: Look it up.

And also add the fact that we travel a lot more nowadays, and there are a hell of a lot more of us.

Alright, the mortality rate makes things clearer.

And as for the 1918 outbreak, penicillin wasn't yet discovered. Or rather, was not in use.

Penicillin is not a magical cure for the flu.

This will be so fucking badass if I don't die. I better start hoarding tinned goods and weaponry though.

And I think so far it got into Romania. And I hear that a similar avian flu in the Iberian Peninsula is sprouting on a similiar rate.
Damn, that was fast. O_o

When I said Bird Flu = Sars, I meant they are being treated by the media in the same way, with the same scare tactics and exaggerations.

FIND OUT HOW YOU CAN NOT DIE A HORRIBLE PAINFUL DEATH FROM BIRD FLU - TONIGHT AT 11.

And then the report is telling you how many people died, but not mentioning over what period of time, and then telling you DONT EAT ANY BIRDS and STAY AWAY FROM AREAS WHERE YOU MAY ENCOUNTER BIRD FECES.

This time the media isn't the only ones screaming: It's the scientific community too. That usually isn't the best sign. It's the cry wolf situation, we've become immune to this kind of scare disease and soon it's going to really come and bite us in the ass.

Actually, the disease isn't foodbourne, so we're not any more likely to die from eating chicken bought down the supermarket than we are now.

Which is pretty likely :P

Yeah that was kind of the point, and you encounter bird feces everywhere.
