People have minds, stop branding them as imbeciles--it's the imbeciles that don't even watch the news to begin with. You just said yourself that it's people like us that are able to judge the news and demand balanced coverage--look at us, we're on completely different sides of the issue--just think of the broad scope of people that we cover.

i doubt such a survey exists, but i stick by my belief that people would rather watch news that they already agree with, as long as it calls itself "the truth", than hear the painful truth that they dont agree with.

no one wants to be fed "FAKE TRUTH", because they actually believe the bullshit they are being fed is the REAL truth. just ask any member of the taliban if they believe everything Bin Laden tells them is true. We know he is a liar but that person will say yes its the truth and i believe him and i dont want to listen to anyone else.
People want lies DISGUISED as truth that they believe is real. If they knew it was fake, of course they wouldnt want it.

I saw a picture of a guy smiling for a camera on the observation ledge of the WTC, and in the background, you could see the plane coming toward the building. The people who doctored it said it was taken seconds before the crash, and the film was discovered.
If we all just said "well pictures dont lie." and accepted that as truth, without using our brains to prove it was doctored, well that would be dumb now wouldnt it?

It was an analogy.
Video footage showed our troops gloriously marching into desert storm but they didnt show footage of our soldiers SHOOTING CIVILIANS IN THE BACK
and they didnt show any afghan civilians dying
and they didnt show tanks firebombing waco
but these things happened. And because it wasnt mentioned in the news, nobody believed it was true until the truth came out later.
Its not what they show but more what they dont show.

They also didn't show people jumping from 100 stories up in the WTC while it was on fire. That's definitely anti-terrorist film isn't it?

When it comes to footage that the censors will allow, the news stations scrounge around for every little piece they can get their hands on. They have to compete with one another, so they can't hold back.

I watch the news on occassion, but find it laughable.
Not only did they not show footage of soldiers shooting civilians in the back, they didnt TELL US about it, either. I had to go to underground independant media to find out about these. They also didnt tell us that shortly after the attacks, over 200 abortion clinics in the USA were sent anthrax. Sounds like the Army of God at work, to me.
