Somehow I doubt either of them would be able to handle the traffic required to run this forum, Jim. This is assuming they even have php and mysql support to begin with.

I doubt that too.. but that's what they said we've got.
I remember one of them crashed because our clan member hosted a 100mb file that was downloaded by 100s of people in a matter of hours.

Thrik said "No.", cus it's not meant for hosting huge files, and it would be "taking advantage" of the service. Sorry matey.

I'm paying for a 60 gigabyte bandwidth limit + mysql/php on one server, and the two Jim mentioned (which do not have mysql) have an 'on tap' bandwidth limit, and not a 'per month' one, so I'm pretty sure I'd be okay.

And Ivan, if I was paying for the seemingly unlimited servers I would, but unfortunately I'm getting them as a favour so I'm not allowed to have mysql and I don't want to have big files on it as the person offering me the servers might cry.

I think if we ban people without 3dmm that one day we will run out oif new people to join this board. I dont think its worth just banning anyone without it because if they join the board without it, they one day might become a veteran without 3dmm.

I think Space Goat should just make a fund where 3dmmers can donate money and he can use it to improve the website and stuff.
Kinda like the Human Fund in Seinfeld.

How can anyone become a vet if they're NEVER had 3dmm in their life? You don't become a vet by just being here a long time.

whoever thought it was possible to become a vet without 3dmm is a moron. that isn't possible, you have to at least be competent with 3dmm to know what's going on here.

Vets have already paid their debt to the 3dmm 'society.' They earned their keep, no quarrels there. If you don't have the CD, you need never be given an account here. If they plan to get it, they can still read the pages as offline users (After this month), and then decide on their own if they want to buy 3dmm or not (No, not Travis' site).

So yeah, I've said my bit. This General chat is bad enough for the community, dragging time away from movie making and all (Yes, I'm guilty, I know). But to have those without the CD here is just plain wrong. Heck, if they care that much about it, it's not hard to get someone to send them a CD-R of it... I bought mine on ebay for a buck fifty! It should take at least a little bit of effort if you want to post here...

its not because the board is more popular its because of the stupid topics like "POST YOUR DESKTOPS" i mean whats the fucking point

all those stupid picture posts should be banned

im not saying you need mods cos the boards ok with out them but get someone to delete POST YOUR DESKTOPS AGAIN Topics

all sorts of pointless topics

so yeah the board isnt more popular

u just keep letting more newbies in

every newbie posts about 300 posts a week so they are more "popular"

if you stopped registration then it would be fine

i dont think u need to waste money on more bandwidth when with the right management you could easily reduce the spam

midbacks forum is a complete waste of time

yeah well thats my post for the week

Spaz, a desktop topic could actually use less bandwidth on Goat's server than a real heated debate would.

All of the large pictures of the desktop aren't hosted on this server, they'd be remotely linked, so yeah. Unless they attach them, but then they're fucking prats.

I'm sorry Spaz, but what the fuck do you know about how popular the board is? You come here what? Once a week? Seriously, shut the hell up, you don't have a clue as to what you're talking about. The stats don't lie, the board is receiving more hits from more unique visitors than ever before. I'll even post the graphs from the webanalizer if you want me to.

Alright, I'm having problems finding the stats from our old host, so I'll post what we have so far on the new server. It doesn't tell you much though because we've only been here for about 2 months.

We started this server in mid-may, so that month is kind of invalid. And July is still in session, so that month hasn't been completed yet.

And our bandwidth usage:

Jul 2002 Total 6.160057 Gb
Jun 2002 Total 7.914919 Gb

When I find the stats from our old host, I'll post those too.

Spaz, why do you keep saying not to let newbies in? They deserve the right to be apart of this community as does anyone. It's a fucking community, not a club. Do you want a secret password and handshake next? I think the only criteria you need to be apart of this community is to own 3dmm and watch/make movies or be a person everyone knows who used to make/watch movies.
