There's a "human" touch with 3dmm's imperfections that allows you to express feelings and emotions much more convincingly than with 3d Studio Max. When I watch a movie in 3d Studio Max, I more often than not feel like I'm beind led around the screen by a robot devoid of any excitement or consciousness.

Goat and Will, if I uploaded my music video, would you both watch it and tell me what you think?

I'd like to hear your opinions on it.

the reason why i got 3dmm was to make movies!!

not to make impressive animations, but for making movies!!

Shit happens will be around an hour and'll probably take bout 5 months to do.

if i wanted to make an actual movie like that in 3d studio max it'd probably take me years and years to finish.

3dmm's animations are done to make movies in quick amounts of time.

3d S Max from my understanding is to make short little impressive animations.

You're right Jeff- 3dmm is for making movies, 3dmax is making animations.

I involvement myself from the start because I saw 3dmm as a way of creating animations.

"The reason why Bodily Function was a hit was because it broke out of 3dmm limitations in everyway. New models, new lighting, new scenes. But most importantly was the original concept. "

EXUSE ME!? MODELS? NO, 3dmm does not support "models", lighting? LIGHTING!? THERE IS NO LIGTING IN 3DMM! its all the same a peach sqaure isn't lighting! its and object...

yeah.
that's why ppl like me, ruiz, john christopher, ppl like us prefer 3dmm cuz we like to mix in a plot, with humor, and good dialogue.

but i guess if u just want to do animations and that's it, maybe 3d studio max is better, but i still believe that any animations u do, 3dmm will always be quicker and more convenient.

like redwampa meets pikios, if u're able to stick to one idea, and not keep changing your mind, u can probably finish it in a few months time.

finishing red meets pikios in 3d studio max will take fuckin ages!!
and considering the fact that u can't stick to one idea.

If you aren't serious about detail and animation then 3dmm is your prog.

Goat completely just spun off a load of garbage
3dsm has no individuality? Look at 3dmm, it has very little set 3d shapes, a word art tool, set shading, characters, and set scene

With 3dsm you start with scratch and build your own things and what ever you want. Especially with the magic of splines, You just draw a 3d grid of whatever you want.
It is possible to make long animations and include sounds, you just need to look into tutorials on animation to figure out how to lengthen your time scale.

I have no objection to anyone who thinks 3dmm is better because it's good to make cartoons easily, that's what it's for.
Jeff's point of view is pretty much spot on.

but Delahoz..... Robotic camera movements, cliched effects and rendering all depend on the skill of the animator, if he is lazy and can't be arsed finding better effects and ways to make his scene then he's not very good. You CAN extend and get plug ins you know.......

Face it, 3dmm is great for cartooning and having a good time, making people laugh
Bringing out "emotions" and "Little personal imperfections" is taking this program way too over the edge.

Show someone a still image of 3dmm, (a basic 8 color image made up of very low poly objects) to 3dsm (Models to any poly count, lighting, focus, color, textures, bump maps, fogging... etc) and the person you are showing to will definetely think the 3dsm one is way better in so many ways

That's like comparing apples and oranges, but it's the animations we've been arguing about anyway, not the graphics.

Compare DHIADW with DD.
If 3dmm were to have no individiality, those movies wouldn't be completely opposite in feeling.

Now compare a standard Guy Collins animation with a Pikios animation and someone else's animation in 3dSMAX.

3dSMAX animations by all of you consist of a cold, distant animation with no sort of personal characteristic. That's that.
