Afterthoughts#2: The Second Chance

How can I start this off? Well in a nutshell its about a kid who is abused. He has a hard homelife and wishes for a "normal" life. He dies from a drug overdose, but then is brought back to life through divine intervention and gets to go through his life the way he would have wanted it. It sounds very interesting, and dont get me wrong...it is extremely interesting. But also highly flawed.

First lets start things off positively. This movie has great animation, sound track, and voice acting. However the story is very foggy. It dosent go into enough detail. The movie starts with great details, character development, and story. You are instantly pulled in. Then all of a sudden it drops you... basically the story gets sloppy. You see him grow up to work at an abuse clinic, which is interesting, but also (and again) way too breif. He meets a girl, girl has abuseive husband, girl marries him after knowing him for about a day (not even). I also found the mothers story not important. Not even the ending made sense (basically you see the kid and his new wife walking). I was let down...I had herd so much...and watched such a dissappointment. If you are really bored and want to watch a drama movie with no point. Download this.

The animation is awesome but it is flawed by the story and character development

I really liked the film A little long but very good, I thikn 6 is a little low maybe a 8 would be better. Remember to give points for the work invovled ok. Movies can take months to make. I'm using the movie for a project in school also.

I am very sorry that you do not agree with my rating...I enjoyed the film immensely...I just think that the story was flawed and too breif...however I agree I should change the rating...

Acid, it's fine for you to post comments on the reviews, but not without a review yourself. A good one too. That goes for everyone, I don't want these threads to be littered with crap one line reviews. You can do that in your own thread. These threads are for actual reviews with real oppinions that are objective and supported.

I'm going to go download the movie right away.

The Second Chance is not NEARLY as bad as I thought it was when it first came out. It is actually one of the FEW movies to have an actually decent theme. Basically, no matter what path we take, we are still gonna have troubles, stay strong and you were persevere though. The story is a bit predicatble at times and cliched for 3dmm, but it has a good message and characters with heart. The music, animation, and dialouge all have their pros and cons as well.

The movies strong point is most defenitley the story and involving characters. It starts off and follows the life of our main character as he is dissapointed with life and live in a troubled home. THings take a turn even further down this spiral when he experiments with his dads drugs and winds up dead. Pretty clasic 3dmm story, and it's almost as if it's supposed to be, as this is kind of a take on what can be done INSTEAD of the norm.

The main character is given a second chance on life to make things better. He chooses the road without drugs and sees where it leads. Down this path he also runs into his share of adversity and challenges.

I found that the second half was more of second movie. It didn't really compare that easily to the message of the first... it just didn't fit. It was like the director figured he could make it one way or the other, and in the end combined them. Instead of having the the film spiral down in the first act, it should have just stopped and have the second half come in so he never decided to take the drugs. The hunsband beating scene was quite unjustified as well. His whole character wasn't developed that well. Putting that aside though, the film still seems to not really know what its doing after the second half. I think that taking out the phone scene would help alot, and not even have him meet that girl. Instead he could develope himself more simply being with his mom, giving some narrorative on how his life has changed.

So yes, there were many flaws with the story, but there always is. I think the creativity and theme, pass this story off. Now for the other aspects. The animation was quite solid throughout, not as in it was really good, but that it had its own style and stayed with it. As well some parts were quite artistic, and deffinetley creative. I liked the plants, they were done well. The tear drop scene has been done and redone, so that wasn't to spiffy. The direction also had a nice style to it and was consitint through out the movie. The music was one of the worst points. It changed way too much, it clashed(all the songs shoul kinda sound the same, especially in a drama), and some were stolen(including 2 from me, but I dont mind) which isn't good.

The movie was entertaining, but simply a little dry. And thats it. You should make some more movies.

All I am saying is that the characters were not developed well and the story needed to go into more detail...

The charcters were developed, they just weren't realistic... at all. They were not easily relatable would be the problem with the characters I would say. Plus, the story had tons of detail, it was just boring because it focused on stuff we didnt care about.

MORE DETAIL everywhere in the movie! It needed more detail in all areas! Otherwise it was #2 best drama ive ever seen (Delicate Mind being first)...
