The Official Glitch List

I encountered quite possibly the craziest glitch ever experienced earlier today.

[17:38] I am Kyle Magocs: SO I HAVE ACTORS SET AT TALK
[17:38] I am Kyle Magocs: and I just started adding frames
[17:38] I am Kyle Magocs: So they're set to continue the action, or something, I guess.
[17:38] I am Kyle Magocs: But then
[17:39] I am Kyle Magocs: When I rewind, it doesn't show the frames of animation rewinding on the actors
[17:39] I am Kyle Magocs: and if I forward, it'll start from the last frame I rewinded
[17:39] I am Kyle Magocs: And if I play
[17:39] I am Kyle Magocs: it won't show
[17:39] I am Kyle Magocs: but when I stop it'll go to the correct frame of animation
[17:39] Travis Wells: it only works BACKWARDS!?
[17:39] I am Kyle Magocs: No.
[17:39] I am Kyle Magocs: It works when manually clicking forward.

  • Manual animation
    See above
    Solution: Play from frame 1
  • Moving slightly
Typically with crosshatching, object will move several pixels, throwing off crosshatching
    Solution: Reset objects as necessary
  • Actor rotation
When an actor is rotated many times in a scene, sometimes their moving direction will change, resulting in moonwalk-like effects.
Solution: Use Direction-reset tool on actor
  • Sound Bug
Sound effects randomly switch, making you look like an idiot. Usually occurs when importing an assload of scenes.
    Solution: ?
  • Text switch
You have 3 pound signs in a circle. You copy it and change the font. Suddenly, it's identical to that asterisk blood you just made. This continues. Gasp.
    Solution: ?
  • Keyboard Glitch
Ctrl+c, Ctrl+v, etc stop working randomly.
    Solution: Restart 3dmm

Post others and I'll edit this post. I can't think of any others.

This happens a lot on scenes where the actors are panning and you give them an action, but then make them stop, and give them another action, or something weird like that. If you hit play from any point later than frame 1, the scene plays, but the actor is frozen in place. Then, when you hit stop, they jump to the point they should be at.

Try playing from frame 1. If it works, nothing to worry about.

It was in the Hiatus Day 2 movie. Didn't really matter. There were 12 other ninjas on screen.

That happened to me in my ninja movie.

I find that when something is crosshatching, you must go to a different scene and then back, and then the crosshatching disappears, and then when you move it back manually it stays that way. I've sometimes seen a form of it that's sort of mixed with the one Kyle posted. It doesn't crosshatch unless you start from the beginning of the scene. Or something. In Vlarion 3 scene 14 if you skip straight to the scene, the mountain is a lot more white. If you play the scene or watch the movie until you get to that scene, the crosshatching won't be messed up.

In the very first Community Clash, when Andres is sitting on the blue couch, and Sammy walks over... the direction of the Sammy actor was off. Like, He was walking, I was moving it toward the couch, but it just started rotating into a 45* angle. Like... if you had a birds eye view, the actor was being animated moving direct north, but it started facing exactly northwest, WITHOUT affecting the north movement. It looked like a Michael Jackson dance move or something. I couldn't make it stop, either. I had to manually turn the character the correct direction in each frame.

Ah yes, I had that occur in my Trojan War project for school. I save dthe scene where it occurred and still have the file. It's happened to me several other times, too.

Add'd.

I've had that glitch happen to me before, in like, normal 3dmm. Yeah. It's really annoying.

I thought the rotation thing was caused by holding Ctrl while rotating a character. It's mentioned in the manual as a tip to get a character to moonwalk.

BR, dude - make a short for the short-fest THANG.

And does anyone know what triggers the copy-paste keyboard screwup glitch? I think maybe selecting them manually can mess things up but I'm really not sure what ACTUALLY triggers it.

I'd like to know too. I haven't noticed a pattern. Sometimes I can 3dmm for hours and it still works, and sometimes it breaks after two minutes.

Sometimes for some reason, the shortcut keys for Copying/Pasting/etc (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V) will just stop working, and won't work until you exit and reopen 3DMM.
