for this we're going to assume both are being added just to make it easier since subtraction involves rewriting the equation on the right

so here is (21x + 5) + (8x + 1)

you start by adding 21x and 8x, giving you 29x

and then with 5 and 1 you get 6

so the final answer is 29x + 6

I'm good at math but I don't like it, but whenever I say that to people it feels really egotistical because it sounds like I'm saying "I'm just good at it but I don't even have to try" when I DO try but I just don't like doing it
