The first two albums are sold out on tape and an original 90s tape would probably cost twice as much

Also my tape deck PLUS my walkman are both slowly dying from belt failure, I've got no solid way to listen to tapes

Oh tropeau bleu is good. Cortex makes good music, even their 2006 album is good.

My parents have a vinyl collection and it’d be cool to have a few of my own.

Oddly enough, kids still play with traditional toys. My girlfriend's nephew is turning 5 and he has no electronic bullshit. He just got a big Hot Wheels parking garage thing. I was at Target last night and saw way more kids - little kids and young teens - looking at Lego, Nerf guns, and physical toys than in the electronic section, which is encouraging because the stereotype is that they're all a bunch of tech addicted Ritalin babies.

yeah, also interesting is that yougner kids seem to love retro games. I used to hang out with my buddy and his little kids before they moved away, and I would bring over my SNES for the kids to play while the men sat around and drank beer. The kids were insanely stoked about the SNES, way moreso than Xbox or Wii or anything. They loved the old school mario games and shit. I think SNES just holds up really well in general as a console. It's not as primitive as the NES but it doesn't have garbage early 3d piss-ugly graphics like the N64. The games have a timeless, painterly quality to them.

Agreed. SNES is the high water mark for that era. The games still look good all these years later and have a lot of replay value. Kids now are lucky with retro gaming because most of the antiquated consoles are great. When I was much younger, I didn't have the same experience. I pulled my brother's Atari out after he stopped using it and immediately thought it sucked. And that was like 30 years ago when there weren't many video game options.

True. Last week, my brother and I went to Walmart and looked at legos and hotwheels.

I want Santa to give me toys for a 13 year old. Not electronics but traditional toys. I am hoping to get legos and RC monster truck.
