I'm not sure why it's selfish... Selfish towards whom? Other selfish people that don't want to be vaccinated? And why haven't they been vaccinated yet when they've had the same opportunities? And another thing: More than 10% of the whole country has tested positive; how vane does a person have to be to see a covid case and think, "this is all my fault"? That person's fate is sealed already.

And you can argue, "well, herde immunity." But it's a new type of vaccine after all. Do we know for sure some people can't be immunized, and that herde immunity is necessary??

What bugs me is that in the real world, practically no one cares about masks, distancing, vaccinations, or anything else covid-related... No one would know they're an ignorant selfish jerk they are if it weren't for social media

Scotland fans have caused a spike in Covid cases and ICU admissions (especially in my City). Most of my friends and family who now have Covid are also vaccinated - most are fine, but some have it pretty bad. Other people I know have vaxxed friends and family members in the ICU.

It all seems to be going well!

You're literally yearning for ignorance in the last one. "if no one knew that this was selfish, it wouldn't be recognized as selfish!" I mean, that's true, but it's not a worthwhile point.

The selfish aspect is pretty simple- it doesn't hurt much, the risks are low, and it's "doing your part" to help in a small way. Kinda like voting. Will your vote matter? Nah, probably not in and of itself. But we're part of a larger whole, and I think we all should try to do our part.

A large portion of the population can't get vaccinated, such as children. I hate to use the "think of the children!" line, but if the majority of healthy, regular, joe-six-pack adults get the vax, then the threat lessens for those groups that didn't, in fact, get that same opportunity to take it.

The vaccine doesn't stop you from transmitting the virus to other people though, so vaccinated and non-vaccinated people are still just as much of a "threat" to those who aren't/can't get vaccinated. The UK Government released their Covid report (for June) which states that, of those over 50, something like 60% of ICU patients/deaths were double vaxxed. Not long now til our Governments publicly apologize for this flop.

Edit: As for the children card, 71 children (ages 1-17) ended up in the hospital in the UK during this Pandemic. 5 of them died, the rest are fine. Sucks that they died and it's horrible to hear, but they very likely had some sort of auto-immune disease or something that was already going to kill them. The vast majority of kids get a very mild cold or get no effects at all.

Recently finished self-isolation for contact with a person who tested positive on a day I worked and then got an Uber home. Nobody else at work got the self-isolation message so it has to have been my Uber driver, who I was in a car with for 20 minutes. Tested negative the whole time.

Masks and vaccines fuckin work!!!!!
