That photo is mine, it's the bedroom I grew up in. I'm fairly certain it was taken in late spring or summer of 2003.

I still have the giant 60 disc CD player and the bright green alienware laptop, although I only use the speakers now from the stereo (never needed to get new ones), and the laptop hasn't been powered on in over a decade. I also still have that desk, but I use it as a workbench now for home projects.

Under the desk is a Dell 933Mhz Pentium something that my parents bought me as a high school graduation gift a few years earlier. That's actually the same computer I created 3dmm.com with, basically everything post-geocities up until the first vbulletin site. Also under the desk you can see a Jeff Gordon trash can (which I embarrassingly still own) and the pedals from my old Microsoft Sidewinder steering wheel.

Also nice story about the room picture!

Found some more, I'm grinning at the php scripts on the bottom from a presumably early 3dmm.com era

EDIT: Found this!

That desktop background looks like an old CGI render by Masa Inakage. Most of his CG work from the 90s looked like that. There are some more samples of his work from the time here: http://inakage.net/works/cg.html

Oh wow, thank you for linking this! I'm in love with these kind of renders.
