Hey, that Mortal Kombat trailer looks awful!

I don't get the whole "Sub-Zero is a fugitive in Brazil" tone of the thing. Isn't it better for this kind of movie to have a plot that's simple and to the point so it can successfully string together a bunch of fight scenes, special effects, and stylized deaths, which is the whole point of this thing anyway?

Anyway, it's only a trailer for an adaptation of an arguably aging franchise. That's all, thanks for your time!

Sub-zero's genocide of the Shirai Ryu is a whole thing and sort of a core part of the games
and seems like maybe the A-plot, while the tournament becomes the B-plot?

Or it'll just have too many fuckin things going on a be a mess maybe

That's what the original movie is

I'm intrigued to see a serious take on Mortal Kombat. I'm just disappointed Cyrax isn't in it.

Were probably past due for a MK movie but at this point I’m not even sure who needs it. If you just watch the in-game cutscenes on YouTube they’re better than any MK movie or show, and they include all the characters and story. They’re honestly way better designed/directed/acted etc.

They could easily just take those cutscenes, add fight scenes, and throw them into a netflix show, and I would rather watch that.

I wanted a bloodsport game way more than a mortal kombat movie as a kid.

looks pretty straight forward to me. the point of that scene is clearly just to introduce the more supernatural elements of the film to the more normal characters like Jax and by extension the audience. given how many characters this film will be introducing, not to mention the whole MK mythos, i'd say it's a good place to start. in terms of story, mortal kombat is anything but simple.

100% with you on this. though they did release a pretty awesome animated mortal kombat film last year which i'd love to see some form of continuation of
