Can't import .wav files for speech 3DMM for WINE Mac OS X

I downloaded 3DMM onto my Mac using the WINE + Mac OS X link on this website. Everything works fine except when I try to record or import my own voice for speech it gives me an error saying "Sorry. We can't use that sound file".
I've tried importing .wav files but it continues to give me this error message. How do I fix this problem? Some have suggested using Py-Q but I am having trouble using it with this program on my MAC. I want to record my voice to use as dialogue for my movies.

Are you converting your things as .wav with Audacity?

No, I just recorded a wav file with an external audio recorder and dragged it from the SD card to my desktop.

I tried exporting a signed 16 bit PCM wav file from audacity and it gave me the same error message.

What is the sample rate on your mic? Try setting that in the bottom left corner of Audacity before you export.

I tried it at 44100 and tried it at 8000 and neither of them worked. I dropped the project rate to 8000 before exporting and got the same error message.

This is why I prefer to use Windows 10 Bootcamp to use 3dmm properly.
